Description
This is a commissioned photograph i did for the model that appears in the picture. She wanted something completely different- and i have to admitt this isnt "perfect" but this is one of my first attempts to allow the muse of David La Chappelle flow through me! There are actually only 4 real apples in this picture... find them and you get a cookie! This picture was taken on a roof top in QUEENS, NEWYORK on my trip there a week ago!-----------------------------------

I appreciate the feature and how many people it brought to my page but let me just say... This image is what started my career. I took it with a POINT and SHOOT KODAK EASY SHARE camera while in new york with someone that had liked what i was capable of doing with just a point and shoot. She paid me so i thought "fuck the vacation... lets make some money" i was not yet passionate about the art of photos. BUT, it was the catalyst to get people talking about me and my work.
Since then I have had a world open up to me and I have been able to do a CD cover and booklet for VIRGIN RECORDS and even gone further with my career. This image means the world to me and I am glad some of you like it and the rest of you, I agree it needs work. I said that myself when i posted it. I see flaws all the way through it BESIDES the fact that i took it when I was still using an EASYSHARE camera and had NEVER USED lighting equipment or a professional camera or anything.
it was a turning point for me and I hope you can appreciate that as i do. If you are weighing it out as an image that holds its own now? no. I dont think it does that.

why comment if you don't particularly like it? it's like taking a bar of chocolate off someone when they offer it to you, then go and put it in the bin.
i personally love it - everything surreal and/or abstract is nearly always amazingly unique.

exactly because of that, and just because somebody is giving me a choco bra to try it, is it better to lie and say 'awesome' or simply tell the truth?
do i have to be amazed just because someone did something? and if there is a commentary section, why i can't say out loud i dislike it?

i think it was a Jay Leno who said that 'maybe America's "you are the best" attitude isn't really the best one. Cause we do develop ourselves only trough the striving to perfection. If you believe that your journey is finished, then you are finished

This is amazing. Just a little bit of magical realism to it, I love it!
How do you come up with your ideas? I'm a photographer myself that's trying to branch out and be more creative - do some stuff kind of like this. Any suggestions?

Ah I see what you did here. That background graffiti didn't really say Buck did it? Very good. At first I had to wonder who Buck was but then I realized what graffiti usually says.
oh yes the falling apple effect is good though somehow there are elements I find a bit off. I kind of expect there to be motion blur for the apples falling. Not only that but apples hitting the ground would break open and make a big huge mess. Unless they were made of plastic or something, which is what they seem to look like here. Then the lighting seems off on quite a few of them but I will hand it to you, you did better than most people would for so many objects that aren't really there. Blurring them for the background worked well since a people doing this for the first time might not think of that.
Overall this is a great pic and the idea really is something different. I like it!

Then this is a photomanip. I think it removes a lot of credit from the artist. If it were shoot with all the apples falling down, I would've said it was amazing. Being the other way around, I don't like it that much since there is a lot less effort in it

no no, i think he was implying that the ones that are tossed and in the air are PLASTIC imitation fruit. as in, they're all still thrown/dropped, but they don't splatter and bruise when they hit the ground. that way he could throw and toss multiple times to get the "just right" shot wihtout needing a thousand apples and having to clean up a big mess each time. i've seen a LOT of plastic fruits/foods etc. that look SOOO real. this def wasn't manipulated, just that he wasn't throwing REAL apples
