Animal of March 2024: Common Yellow Scorpion!!Hello, Wildlife Fans and Wonderful Artists!!!!Gee, I'm late with the new AotM, but I was a bit under the weather, health-wise, these past days... I think it is getting better, though Our new randomly chosen Animal of the Month is the Common Yellow Scorpion (Buthus Occitanus), a small scorpion that lives in southern Europe, Middle East and Northern Africa. Their Wikipedia page contains next to nothing, which is strange, really, so I'll have to peruse a few websites to give you interesting links here... if anyone has one in mind, please share it with me and I'll add it here!!They are venomous, a little in the northern part of their range, and very much in the southern part... and that's about everything I know about them for now You can read about them here: Common Yellow Scorpion (Buthus occitanus) ยท iNaturalist , here: Buthus occitanus - Wikipedia , here: A first exploration of the venom of the Buthus occitanus scorpion found in southern France - PMC (nih.gov) And now, please give many faves, llamas, badges, hugs and love to the awesome artists who took time to create black-and-yellow art last month with the Tiger Tail Seahorse!! ,,,,,,,
This time I used a brush pen with extra fine brush tip and waterproof ink to paint the scorpion.
Afterwards I colored it with watercolors.
I tried to stay loose on this piece and not overwork it.
I remember that I bought these brushpens because Kim Yung Gi used them a lot and I was really impressed by his work.
Unfortunately I don't use them very often, but creating this scorpion was fun.
Brushpens need quite some motion control using them because of their soft brush tip otherwise you only get fat ink blobs on the paper.
