Recently I have the strong impression that many things here on DA are going south.

DA feels more and more like a wrecked vehicle.

The site is flooded with generated AI images in all flavors, normal, NSFW, porn, fetish, name it .... or a combination of those.

DA convulsive advertise and pushes the idea that AI prompters are artists and generated images are art to sell their generator and to participate on sold AI images.

We see events and features which actively promotes AI images, real artists are only the staffage to sell the prompters the idea to become also an artist by pressing a generate button and that they can create amazing "art" by doing so.

They need us artists to sell them this idea, to feel as artist along other artists.

IMHO we should boycott any event, competition or challenge which allow prompters to participate.

Let me be clearly state my opinion:

- Prompters are not artists

- Generated images are not art

Additionally generating images produce no intellectual property as they are just generative output of software and not a result of a creative process, this also means that such images can't be copyrighed, they are in best case public domain and in worst case stolen content as the generators were trained with countless stolen artworks.

So any buyer should think off for what he pays when buying an generated image and what he get for his money.

Such a buyer will not gain any ownership, permissions or rights on this picture.

The only thing you can argue is that these guys pay for the service that somebody is entering some buzzwords into a AI generator and pressing the generate button, nothing more......

An awesome valuable service, isn't it?

AI images might look neat and shiny but they are worthless crap.

We can already see the massive damage it did to digital artists as you can't be sure anymore if you look at an artwork or just worthless generated knock-off crap.

A few years ago when you saw such an image (typically in a shiny, glossy, polished anime style because generators are really good copying this style) you thought: "awesome digital art".

These days you look at such an image the first thought is "another generated crap image?"
