Description Messing about with mixed media. The evil black stuff is powdered charcoal, which comes in jars and is as fine and capricious as talcum powder. You can load it onto a brush, "paint" it onto the paper, and if the paper is upright as on an easel, the charcoal will run down it just like paint and leave little black trails. It floats so lightly on the paper that just breathing too close by will chase it across the surface.

I tapped some darkness powder out onto the coiled-up string, then dropped the string a few times onto the paper, leaving the snakey trails seen here. The string itself is on lower right.

Charcoal powder is really weird stuff... I think some rather Gothic friends of mine us it as eye liner.
