Description
First actual homework is to do eight different hand studies, using line only, covering two sheets of this huge 18 x 24 paper. This is the best photo (which isn't very).Related content

Greetings again, Purple One.
It's kind of depressing that your first hand study in that class is better than any I've ever managed. I'm okay with hands, but I can sure use improvement. This padawan has much to learn.
The photo may be bad, but the hand looks fine. Maybe not an idealized manipulator straight out of Da Vinci's notebook, but realistic none the less.

Well, I've often said I practically have hooves. Not well adapted for playing the piano or handling a loaded slice of pizza... but very few humans can break my grip.
That one study pictured above, by the way, took me about 45 minutes. I hazard to guess, dear edged one, that if you spent that long staring at your own hand, you'd likely outdo yourself too. ; >
Also, Da Vinci was allowed to use shading. *cough*

Value does make things easier, especially if you start with a middle-value wash.
I know what you mean about less-than-dexterous hands. With a mechanic's gorilla-like paws, loosening up enough to draw well is a challenge. I need about half an hour of warm-up before I can do a decent job.
