Ooh ils sont supers là-dessus ! Tu les as vraiment, vraiment très réussis On reconnaît vraiment les personnages, mais il y a quand même une marge d'interprétation de l'artiste (toi, donc) qui rend le dessin encore plus intéressant et joli
Bravo ! J'adore !

Que sera sera.
I just got done with an exam myself. I did...med, but it's math so I'm not too brokenhearted about it personally.

Anthro? As in anthropomorphized animals, like Garfield and basically every quadropedal denizen from Fabletown?

Yes, that's what I meant (even though I've never read Fabletown).

(I'm going to come off as such a nerd here.) *cartman voice* well, actually the cast merely dwells in Fabletown. The premise is actually called Fables; and it's awesome. Read it, it's great. I've never read 'Blacksad'. My local Atomic used to have it, allegedly, but I've heard a lot of complimentary chatter about this serial through all the kickass fan art. What is it? Is Blacksad like a Phillip Marlow with plush ears, or what?

^^
I just checked few covers and pages, Fables looks great~ I'll give it a try if I can find it. Sadly, other Comics than Franco-Belgian comics are often quite hard to buy where I live, publishers tend to release them haphazardly =A=.
Philip Marlowe with plush ears must be the most accurate description of John Blacksad I've ever read. The story is set in the USA during the late 1950's and follows the cases of an old school private eye. The first book is a classic detective story and the following ones deal a bit more with the social and political issues of the era.

You speak english remarkably well. Plus Blacksad, from the plethora of fan art I've seen, and from just what facial spectrum I've observed from the online comic panels, seems like a kick ass lead. That being said, I thought France was heavy in trafficing American stock.I've seen you guys do so many covers for American comics (some are actually my favorite) that I just assumed that American comics were a big screaming deal on your side of the pond. That kind of makes me sad.
I can relate though. Regrettably there's something of a dearth of franco-euro comics in the current circulation. I've actually have wanted to get into Bilal and Sky Doll and I was engaged in a parisian manga about the Vatican's secret ops, but french mangas--french comics period--are as good as impossible to find off-line. The closest I can get to a french comic is Lupin the Third.
If you can't find Fables kindly permit me to profer you two premises equal in their hilarity and broad theatricality.
Number one: Archer [link]
Number Two: The Venture Brothers [link] [link]

Sorry for replying that late to your post =w=;. I missed the notification
Thank you very much for all these links ^^.
I have heard about the Venture brothers but never got to watch it as, most of the time, the videos are not available in my country.
There's definitely a public for American comics in France and it's growing wider every year. However, it's quite a recent phenomenon (even though some say American comics started to become popular during the 80's) that benefits from other media (marvel movies/cartoons) and the internet. Finding comics in your local bookshop 10-15 years ago was often almost impossible.
The art of Sky Doll is so pretty~ I only read the first book.

I'm glad you like the links. I just like hooking people up with smart hilarity like those shows.
It's going to sound like it comes from some deeply ingrained jingoist narcisism, but I have to ask: do you guys like our culture? I mean I love French culture myself---but I always got the impression that the french were, I don't know, indifferent to American culture; like it just didn't see anything particularly appealing beyond loud mouthed cowboys and new yorkers. I mean, the U.S. is a massive country distance wise, so there's a lot of different stories, motifs, traditions and cultures commingled in its makeup: but most people don't ever get exposed to those regions so our international image tends to get relegated either to californians, southerners, texans or new yorkers. Do you guys like our stories and our culture? What american films have you seen? Have you seen 'good will hunting'? 'thank you for smoking'?'o'brother where art thou?'?
Is there anything about American culture you want to ask about?

French people and American culture is a tricky subject.
I don’t think French people are indifferent to American culture at all. A striking example of this would be last December’s very successful Edward Hopper exhibition at Le Grand Palais in Paris. All the online tickets were sold out in a matter of days (meh , 'couldn't get one )and people queued for hours in the cold to get the last few unreserved tickets.
A large part of the problem lies in the relationship between media and culture but I suppose it’s the same in other countries. Lots of people are introduced to a factice version of the “American Culture” through TV series (bored housewives, bumbling dads and crime shows :/)/ movies and news reports ( and that only when something uncommon is happening on your side of the Atlantic). French people know the USA cannot be simply boiled down to this vision but trying to get a new approach on American culture when you don’t speak English is difficult as most of the founding texts and classic novels remain badly or not translated. High school English textbooks supposedly introduce us to the “cultural diversity of the USA” through literature excerpts but, let’s face it; students' English skills are often too low to study those texts. Studying foreign languages is sadly not really considered as a priority.
I haven’t seen good will hunting but I have seen the two other movies you mentioned. I do enjoy watching American movies.
I actually find your question very interesting.
I am studying English and Anglophone cultures at university. American culture was one of the options I chose to complete my master’s degree. I chose that option because I realised that I didn’t know much about American culture. I still cannot pretend to be particularly knowledgeable on that subject as it is really vast, I wish we spent more time studying it.
I’d have tons of questions to ask but nothing specific comes to my mind at the moment .

Thanks that was immeasurably informative. If you liked 'o'brother where art thou' you'll love 'shawshank redemption' and 'miller's crossing'.

When I read a manga or a comic book I really don't mind about the style, as long as the story is great. Good suggestion ^-^
