Description
Still testing out Blender's 2D animation capabilities and learning some traditional animation techniques in the process. I'm pleased with the results so far.I'm sort of making things up as I go along, Blender Grease Pencil has a really powerful automatic interpolation tool for filling in the frames in between keyframes, but it's taking me a few tries to figure out how to set up the drawings to best utilize it.

Absolutely terrific - perfectly paced, just the right amount of detail and the growth/flex look great together.

Thanks, I'm having a lot of fun learning this stuff.
I was tempted to use the "trembling" trick in this (basically transposing some of the frames at intervals), but I wanted to see if I could get the same feeling of tension without it. I've seen it used to really good effect, but to me it indicates pain and distress, and that's not what I was going for here.

Fantastic start - you have a good eye for animation! I like the additional couple of βbulgeβ frames near the very end; I think that showing the growth going just a tiny bit past the ending size adds a sense of tension / release to the animation.
As a suggestion, Iβm not sure how many frames you used, but with clever use of staggering frames you could stretch out the animation a little longer and give it that βtremblingβ effect that works so well in anime. Just a thought!

Damn, that's awesome. Fingers look a little weird, but the muscles really pop!

I really should have spent more time on the hand, but I just wanted to get to animating so I rushed it.

Haha, fair enough.Β It's still great, just I know there's an unfortunate habit on DA for blanket praise, which I know from experience isn't particularly helpful to someone who's as serious about their craft as your work insinuates you are.

No, no, I welcome meaningful criticism. You had a good point, it's just that in this one case I didn't care about how the hand looked because I was in "animation learning mode."
I might go back and redo this animation at some point. I really like how it turned out, but I can already see things I'd do to make it even better.
