Description
Mutations in Krokau can be subtle, but many are more extreme! Unlike traits, these adhere to a rarity system. Individuals with mutations are not a sub-species, and sub-species can have mutations (though they may be more limited.) Some traits can be combined. Colored sclera and shaped pupils, for example! However not all mutations can co-exist. Common sense is enough to discern most impossible combos but any special ones will be mentioned below. For color mutations please see this sheet:
pudgehen.deviantart.com/art/Kr…
Eyes - While some are very drastic changes, these mutations do not affect the vision of the Krokau. Changes to the shape or bleed of the pupil and iris do not lower vision nor do any of the mutations improve it above others. Even in multi-eyed individuals only two eyes are ever active at any given time!
Legs - Two of these mutations can actually give a Krokau advantages. Sickles can be used in tearing food while pulling with the jaw and zygodactyl feet are excellent for tree-savvy Krokau. A silkiefoot's back toes are fused before the final joint.
Tongues - Serpent tongued Krokau can smell just as well with their tongue as they do their nose with the additional benefit of tracking direction more efficiently than a blunt forked tongue. The prehensile tongue is a boon to any Krokau with it. It is strong, maneuverable, and stickier than other tongue types.
Venoms and Breath - Most Krokau are mildly venomous. They secrete this venom from glands along the jaw and it floats free in their saliva. As a result a fearful or hunting Krokau tends to salivate profusely. Regular venom causes extreme pain but is not deadly in most doses. Ichor venom is viscous, concentrated and over-produced and is much more dangerous as a result! The only venomless Krokau are those who breath Fire.
Teeth - Sheer toothed Krokau tend to lean more toward the plant side of their omnivorous diet, and are the only Krokau who can graze. On the opposite side of the spectrum crusher toothed Krokau have incredible interlocking grip that allows them to hold on tight to prey for a battle of endurance.
Face - Nearly all facial mutations are purely decorative, other than the fact a sharp bit is still a sharp bit and can be used for stabbing.
Limbs - While very rare, Krokau do have occurences of additional limbs that can go so far as to completely re-orient their body type or habits. Winged individuals tend to establish larger territories and feed at higher elevations. Taur individuals have longer spines and are capable of walking upright but they take to the quadrupedal lifestyle with ease. Where multiple heads are involved each head is their own individual Krokau but they share operation of the body.
Are there more mutations out there yet to be discovered? This is likely! New mutations will not be added to this sheet however. They will be given their own when enough discoveries have accrued.

Wowo nice; you're going all-in to put detail to this species!
Ohmygosh I can't wait for them to be official in a group, as they looks so cute...in a deadly way :0

Thank you!!
I am hoping to get them done early enough this week to have the first ones for sale and do a MYO event running the whole weekend, but that might have to be next week. I lost all of tonight to a chicken emergency. Sorry to leave you waiting!
They are omnivores who do hunt, but they don't pose a threat to much! At largest they take down big fish and small game, unless they have ichor. That said they're a weird kind of intelligent where they're unlikely to do more than heckle and steal from a species like us humans!

Chicken emergency? That sounds a like a rush.
Hmmm...I know in Greek mythology ichor is the blood of the gods, and if you've been inspired by cockatrices, then it may work as a venom...so special deadly venom it is?
Yeah, their beaks don't look like they'd pose quite a deadly threat to humans unless they had the crusher, fang, or tusk- I mean beaks can hurt a lot, but overall from the mouth shape it doesn't look like they hunt humans.
They might just scare one if the human never saw a Krokau before.
//oh, and do X-shaped eyes effect a Krokau's vision?

We had a little hen get hypothermia and she very nearly died. She's a-ok now though! Was a first for us, we live in Texas so cold isn't really something we're super prepared for but with this cold front temps drop so fast even the cochins are unhappy..
Ichor has become kind of a nebulous fantasy thing, I'm using it here as a sludge-like venom. For felling larger prey they use it like we used to think komodo dragons hunt. Tusks are probably better for rooting around depending on the size! I imagine there are people afraid of them like any other animal but they usually sit somewhere between friend and pest.
Nah! I really didn't want to blind a Krokau just to give them pretty eyes even though most of these wouldn't be functionable in the least.

Yes, I could see the ichor had some type of venomlike qualities just from the drawing.
Yeah, people seem to be afraid of anything unknown that has fangs...usually.
And does the x in the eye actually help the Krokau (like it gives it a better night-vision eye), or help it see clearer?

I'm glad the drawing portrayed such! No, there are no advantages or disadvantages to any particular eye type. Except for maybe psychological terror or endearment?? LOL

lel well within the krokau themselves, or within human contact (about the psychological terror)?

Probably just humans since we associate X eyes with the dead for whatever reason!
