Betta, sans reference. (I used to have a betta, but he has long since passed on.
) Watercolor and ink on Rives BFK. about 5.5"x9.5".

I think I had one betta in college that lived to be 3 years old. The others I have owned haven't lived near so long. Pet-store bettas are usually sold fully-grown, too; so it's not like you're buying a juvenile fish, so you don't get a full sense of their real lifespan anyway.
But now I ramble. I haven't actually owned a betta for nigh on five years now. No space for a good fish setup.
