A friend wanted to know what Laurel would look like in the Mega Man Zero style.

To be perfectly honest, I've never been the biggest fan of the MMZ art style. When it was unveiled in the early 2000s I remember being incredibly disappointed as I found it an emormous step down from the X series in terms of art direction. In particular it was the faces and 'armor' that bothered me the most. The faces and those giant, wide, soft eyes came off as incredibly childish, especially when compared to the notably dark tone that many of the Zero series went with. It ripped me from the setting as I couldn't really take it seriously.

I'm not as harsh on the style these days as I was back then, and I recognize that it has its fans. I'd never drawn something IN said style before, so I guess I took it as a challenge.

Trying to keep all those angled-ovaloid shapes uniform was a pain in my @$$ let me tell you.

If you look REAAAAAL close in the upper-left corner you can spot my first attempt. It was kinda bad.

But the final result? Yeah, I think I'm happy with it.

Assuming my girls even made it to the Z-Series, Laurel would probably remain loyal to X, not realizing he was a copy (I don't remember that was public knowledge) and serve on the side of Neo Arcadia as an operator or an administrative position, though she DOES have a strong emotional sense and could be convinced of the evils of the regime if anyone bothered to try.

Or maybe she eventually quit the hunters ranks and was pulled back into the conflict by one side or the other due to her valuable experience. Who can say? I've never really thought that far ahead.

Most likely though she died in the Elf Wars.
