Description
Well, here's part 2 of my wrap around haunted forest idea. You can put more different kinds of ghosts on the pumpkin that'll go inside the forest pumpkin, this is just the basic idea. And no you're not seeing things, the completely blacked out top of the image means you don't use the top of the pumpkin when carving the ghosts. The result should look like a bowl with ghosts around the edge.Related content

I'm not sure I understand why you have Kokopelli in the middle? A fertility god on a pumpkin for Halloween seems all bassackwards to me.

It's just used as an example of how ghosts can be carved all around the pumpkin. when I used the repeating ghost pattern to make the haunted forest, I left out kokopelli. Basically you can use any ghost or grim reaper you want. People have different tastes.

That makes more sense but my point was still who puts a fertility god on an item for celebrating the death of the old year?

Like I said, different people have different tastes. For instance, ever since my family found we had a native american ancestor, my dad became interested in flute playing & I guess the whole kokopelli thing stuck. As for pumpkins, I've always thought of them simply as something fun to grow & carve. I didn't mean anything by it.

I meant everything in a joking manner. I didn't believe for an instant that you had intentions of offending anyone.

In that case, everything's okay. By the way, I was actually thinking of creating my own Cthulu pattern. Of course I might have to do some research & decide which direction to go, but it probably won't look like the pattern I have in my favorites.

I would suggest reading up on your H.P. Lovecraft because there are a few iconic Cthulhu images in his stories that repeat such as talismans and statues of Cthulhu that way it might be more recognizable to people viewing the pumpkin.

I carved a pattern like this once. It wrapped all the way around the pumpkin. Made for a nice display in the home. Especialy with cloves stuck on the inside and pumpkin pie spice rubbed on the interior.

I actually was thinking of carving some indoor pumpkins. I just ordered a brain jello mold & plan on finding a clear plastic serving dish just big enough, then I'll put the brain on top of the pumpkin & light up both.

I was going to go with a medical diagram theme for my pumpkins this year. Lots of skeletons, brain and head illustrations, etc.

Cool! That gives me an idea. I'll have to do it freehand, but I'll be sure to post a pic by Halloween.
