Arakawa must be stuck in a permanent go around to think Winry makes a better main-side character then Rose. Honestly.
And if you'll notice, she's leaning over, because he's short.

I can think of a Pretty good Story regarding Rose & Winry after the Events of the Movie.
Winry is Disappointed by the Fact that Ed, Al and Izumi are gone forever. She is also a tad bored, because now that They're Gone and the Military Calmed down, there's nothing to do, but live a Normal Life. Rose (who, along with her Bastard son is living with the Rockbells) suggests that they take a Girl's Night out on the Town. What's more, Sheska is also taking a Day off from Work, so they invite her Along for the ride.
I'm Also Contemplating whether Rose brings her kid or leaves him with Pinako. If she does leave him with Granny, she could see him off like a Good Mother, Mild Baby-Talk, baby Laughs, yadayadayada. Oh, and I only called him a Bastard because of the Theory of Rose's Abscence and Molestation. I don't think he's a Bad kid, he's too young to have that kind of Personality.
And Don't Anyone Refer to Stewie, because this is a Normal Baby.

I watched episode one and.. thats what happened. It's pretty simple, actually. My brains such a romantic it picks the couple it likes within the first episode.
The point is, WINRY NEVER HAD A CHANCE. ^^ And I'm glad she didn't.

and hell yea! if the creators wanted ed to be with winry so badly they woulda make it apparent and clear that she was the main character in the first episode. I was kinda hoping at the end of ep. 2 that rose would follow the Elric Bros.

Yeah, I hoped for that too, but at least she came back into the show, no? And danced with Ed, nonetheless.
But, I think BONES liked Rose more then Winry... Since in the manga, Rose isn't around minus the first manga + a side thingy about her being a bandit leader, but in the anime in the second/third season (Second dub season and third japanese season) Rose plays a supporting role in the series. They should have given Rose more of a role in the movie. Rose could make a really cool character, if someone would give her a chance.
In the manga Ed and Winry "love" eachother but havent made the other one known of it yet. But, hey, It's not like Rose even had a chance in the manga to steal anyones (Ed's) heart. Winry's like.. the only girl his age that he really knows? (ROSE ISN'T OLDER THEN HIM, FOOLS! She's taller.)
Arakawa makes me made but you can't not love a cow! (Unless you don't like cows.)
I regret beating you to drawing Rose with her hair up. But I didn't see how Rose could be a ninja and have long flowing hair without being useless like Sakura was before she got her hair cut. (Okay, so she wasn't useless.)

Well.. it's a simple consept. Hiromu threw Rose out of the plot, so whose he gonna fall in love with? Shezka? Riza? Mei? (xD) Nooo.. he's going to fall in love with the stereotypical girl next door who fixes his automail limbs, Winry!
