This is your first art without outlines and you think it sucks? This is pretty good!
How do you do lineless?
I do it with outlines first then erase afterwards. But it's still a pain.

Well for most people, they do a sketch, and then fill in that sketch with colors. After they're finished they erase the sketch so it's just color and no lines. For this one I kinda cheated and just colored the lines the same color. I made more work for myself ;-;

I see lots of people do sketches. Never done it myself.
I just have outlines on a top layer and color in a bottom layer. I'll erase outlines when it's well colored in then touch up any parts that's out of place. If you like I can show you some I did without outlines.
Maybe someday I'll do it the tradional way.

Guess you do now.
But still you did it better than me, including the lighting & shading. I need to know some more advanced detailing.
I like to know your thoughts on my art, if you don't mind me asking.

I think your work is pretty nice! For advice I would say to definitely try sketching beforehand and making edits to the sketch before doing the pen work. Also using a smaller size pen might help you out a bit!

Alright. I only draw with 3 layers. Outlines always on top, color, shades & highlights in middle and background in bottom.
But if I'm doing a sketch I may use the bottom layer. Reason I use thick is the color is sometimes becomes noticeable when zoomed out and it really bugs me. I try to erase the color in the middle layer or thicken the outlines a bit to fix it. So I usually use pen sizes around 5-1. I don't draw on any high quality tablets or anything. I use a 3DS/Disney Art Academy. When posted, the quality is a bit low. But I will use a small pen size if I do sketches.
Actually I just remembered Disney Art Academy has lessons. But I should probably look at other sketches to do better. Thx for the advice.
Btw, which ones did you get a good look at? The lineless ones? Just so I can know specifically as a later example to improve on.
Oh and the one Bowser art you faved wasn't my drawing, it was just an edit of official artwork. just in case you didn't read the description.

I took a look at the artworks in your featured gallery. Fun fact, but I learned how to draw with Art Academy on 3DS too! And all of my early drawings were on that software.
Now, I can see that you have a good basis of certain characters and you have a good enough idea of how coloring and shading works. However, I do think that the software is holding you back a bit. As someone who’s used it, I know it really fun and comfy, but it does make things harder, especially small details. I would recommend slowly adjusting yourself to getting comfortable with digital art on a computer. (If you have a program you like then that’s good. If not I recommend Paint Tool SAI because it’s easy but powerful)

Ok. Was hoping you'd fav some so I know exactly which ones. But it's fine. As long as I know you liked it.
Yeah I noticed in your old Christmas drawing you used Pokemon Art Academy. I use the Disney version. I have Sketchpad & HomeStudio on WiiU as well.
I heard Pokemon is more cleaner or something. But I would rather just use something more stronger. I don't have a computer. Only other thing I have is an iPad for which I have some editing apps for mirroring, collage or fonts. But problem with the font app is the text comes out clear while working on it, but after I save the image it's quality lowers, making it almost hard to read. Some are really noticeable.
I read the Paint Tool SAI 2 can be used on iPad pro. might be what I need. I looked at some of your other art and those thin outlines really work well. I'm thinking of wanting a actual art tablet so I can really do more high quality stuff. But in the mean time, I'll just stick with my scrappy 3DS.

Yeah! Sadly the iPad pro can't support paint tool sai 2 (I wish!) but it does have a very good app called procreate that's even better.. but I just don't know how to use it good yet. If you ever do get a tablet I'd recommend looking at a website called Parblo. They're new and they have some really good and most inexpensive art tablets out there

I've looked them up. Procreate and those Parblo tablets look great. I'm only interested in art tablets I don't have to hook to a computer, so portable ones suit me as I'm well used to drawing while laying down.
Btw, I've started to do a lineless drawing using a sketch. I was gonna have the sketch middle layer and I did, but then would I color over the sketch same layer or top layer? So I traced the sketch bottom layer. I didn't erase the mid layer sketch yet. Plus I am adding a background. Same layer for characters colors & sketch seems difficult. I did look at a Buzz Lightyear lesson DAA had, but it had a premade sketch on the grid overlay which only is used in lessons. Normally it's just a grid in free drawing. If I had 4 layers, this might not be a problem. So what would you prefer is easier? Sketch & color same layer with details above or sketch on bottom?

PUPPERCASE In reply to GameKing427 [2018-12-27 19:07:33 +0000 UTC]
Oh I would definitely say to keep sketch layer on bottom, though I definitely know the feeling. I will admit that lineless is super difficult at first and it’s hard to remember where each layer goes. Don’t worry though, it gets a lot easier later on

GameKing427 In reply to PUPPERCASE [2018-12-27 19:23:56 +0000 UTC]
Ok then! I might have two copies of the sketch just in case. The lessons have two different sketch overlays. I guess it's closer to what I usually do, but the sketches were more transparent in opacity. That's how I started my sketches. I used ink pen around 5-7 in size. I will try to do it with the sketch on the bottom. It's more tradional.
Speaking of remembering layers... I actually made a huge mistake with one of my drawings long ago. I drew Plessie riding Yoshi, but I didn't realize until I did so much that I drew the background on the top layer and the characters under that layer. I didn't wanna do over because I did so much. Had a long art block from it. Even though it's finished and the viewers may like it, I myself just don't because of the hell I went through.
