...and another one. This is what I imagine Po the goblin to look like if our campaign's "Out of the Abyss" prison break is successful and the prisoners get to raid the armory, larder, etc. before leaving the outpost.
I need to color one of these pencil sketches to get across that he has yellowish skin rather than green or orange. In the meantime, I genuinely like the rougher, old-fashioned look of a plain pencil sketch for a D&D/Pathfinder RPG character, y'know?
(I'm leaving it uncertain as to whether he's wearing actual armor or not, because monks are still kinda like wizards in that if someone puts a single piece of armor on them, their powers all go away. There's not a lot of room to draw creatively when everything has to be non-armor cloth.)
"Ah-ha! Your miniature of your elf rogue has teeny-tiny links of chainmail visible! That means your rogue has Disadvantage to all skill rolls as he clunks about noisily!" "Dude! That was the only mini Mayhem had on sale! It even says Rogue on the packaging! Maybe the sculptor just wanted it to look cool, okay?"
The look of kickboxer hand-wrappings and ankle-wrappings are overused when depicting D&D or Pathfinder monks. (and yeah, I'm guilty of drawing it, too, but it's an uninspired visual design. So, I'm trying really hard not to use any cloth wrappings on monk characters lately.
To me, goblins look best when they're wearing piecemeal, ramshackle parts of dented, nicked, burnt armor.
And yeah, the backpack is about as big as he is, because that's how we'll likely roll when navigating through the caves of the Underdark in a few weeks. Po's backpack(s) might even have a special knot which comes undone quickly when yanked, just in case the party gets ambushed.
To me, he's probably also likely carrying a big sack of supplies in his arms, too, with the realistic idea that when a monster encounter or a geographical hazard rears its ugly head, he'll need to set the supplies aside. IMO, it seems unrealistic for adventurers to be wandering around the Underdark with more weapons than food, y'know? IRL people camp and hike with enormous backpacks and not a single broadsword or bow anywhere.
