Hi Helen!! I normally don't have much time for individual commentary, but I wish you would take this image out of "out-takes" and submit it as something more suitable in your gallery!!
This is a wonderful image of you and I think you implemented your props very well within this portrait!! And I REALLY like the hairstyle in relationship with your face and the revealing of only one eye ... very classy for sure!!
Anyway, there's my opinion, but you do whatever you feel most comfortable with, okay?? Please take care and I send my best wishes and many s along with them!! Lee

All changed for you
Thank you so much for stopping by, I'm really happy that you like it, I'm pretty fond of the styling too as I don't usually look that glamerous at any time.

Thank you so very much my dear Helen, but I really wanted it changed for you ... not necessarily me!! Such an image deserves a better place in your wonderful gallery!!
However, I am really flattered that you would do such a thing like this for me and I thank you from the bottom of my
You know Helen, you are more photogenic than you think and give yourself credit for!! I would love an chance to drag you in front of a camera ... for I used to do a lot of portraiture sometime ago!! In fact, I still am happy to say that I have all of my studio gear (seamless papers, studio strobes, etc.)
Anyway, thanks again I'm very happy that you now have this as an image more appropriately filed!!
Take care and a multitude of s upon you forever!! Lee

Aww that's so sweet of you Lee
I had no idea you used to do portraiture! Did you enjoy it? You should totally go and give it another shot if you have the time I've always wanted to go more into portraiture but alot of my friends don't like having their photos taken/don't see the point in nice emotive portraits so I use myself

Hi Helen!! I'm just being honest!! I used to do many things including portraiture and I sure did!! I really don't do much anymore because of the lacking of good subjects, but even more so ... TIME!! Right now, I'm on vacation, but when I'm working, there's no time to photograph anything!!
Much of my past portrait sessions are recorded on film ... digital wasn't around yet!! And my film scanner "bit the dust" a long time ago!! If I ever can get the film scanned, I will try to post some things that I did from years ago!!
As you know, portraiture comes in many varieties ... perhaps your potential subjects would agree on a different type!! But, you're a very good subject, so use yourself if necessary!!
Anyway, please take care and I hope to hear form you again soon!!
Best wishes and many s forever!! Lee

Ahh very true Lee, protraits do take up alot of time, all the lighting and finding the right person.
Ooooh I love film, I love how it looks, I've always thought the quality of film was nicer than digital :shug: might just be me that thinks that. That would be lovely to see though
Hmm yeah, I'll see what I can persaude my friends to do, but I'm very into avente garde, alas there isn't much of that abou anymore.

But, I feel the time is well worth the results!! I remember (and this is not a lie)... A lady came to me one time through reference of my sister to do a portrait session to help promote her in getting this new job!! I believe it had to do with some cable channel on television or something like that!!
Anyway, the session lasted for literally hours with different backgrounds, clothing, compositions from head shots to full-length and many in between!! Since I was using film, I had no way of previewing any of the shots, so I had to take many and have proof sheets made for evaluation by her to decide which she wanted for final prints for her portfolio!!
I'm very happy to say that she contacted me to thank me for this session because she got the job!! I was so very happy for her even though I didn't know her except for the time during the session ... well also, the initial interview prior to this!! I honestly believe this was due to a very good working relationship during the "shoot"!!
In many ways, I agree with you on the medium of film because only some of the finest digital medium format and view cameras with digital backs can render true professional results that will rival film!!
Sorry I'm so stupid Helen, but what is "avente garde"??
s always!! Lee

that's awesome that that happened, changed that women's life!

Avente Garde is a type of fashion, where it's very conceptual, creative and all round cool , it means "ahead of " in french. like the late Alexander McQueen's work: [link]

Some of the fashion photography based on avente garde is amazing.

why was this an outtake?

Puppykit In reply to Hannah--M [2010-05-18 18:50:47 +0000 UTC]

because it wasn't what I was looking for in my own lil brief for the shoot, I like it and all but I just can't use it for my project
