This is part of a later scene from A Kingdom of Children that I can't describe due to spoilers, sorry. I just really needed to draw Jonquil for two reasons. One, I've only ever drawn him once before. And two...well...

This is initially going to sound off-topic, but rest assured it does tie in with the pic. I'm sure you're all aware by now about Robin Williams. I didn't watch much of the stuff he was in except for Aladdin and Flubber, both of which I loved and still do, and RV which was okay for the most part. I also really thought it was cool when I found out he was a gamer, that he had named his daughter after a certain Hylian princess, and that he and she did some commercials for either Ocarina of Time 3D or Skyward Sword or both, can't remember which. All of those points tie in with Jonquil: while design-wise he's loosely based on Rauru from OoT, personality-wise I based him on the Genie from Aladdin, especially with his love of comedy. Ever since I first created him, I had even envisioned Jonquil to be played by Robin Williams if A Kingdom of Children was ever made into a film adaptation. Obviously that can't happen anymore, even if KoC gets a film. Still, I hope to keep a piece of Williams' spirit alive in Jonquil. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to start thinking of a new headcanon voice for Jonquil and also cry.
