Description
-Navi-Series origin: The Legend of Zelda
Staff position: teacher (public speaking)
Abilities: flight, minor healing magic
Theme song: Fairy Flying from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
One of the only fairies from the Kokiri Forest to have made her life in the modern world, as well as the youngest teacher Nintendo High employs, having only recently completed college. Navi is a caring individual who wishes for all of her students to become the best they can be. She has a fairly free teaching style, though will come down hard on those who distract other students. The main reason Navi has been able to make her life outside the forest is because she was never assigned to be the guardian of any particular Kokiri child.
For scale reference because I posted a very Navi-esque guidance partner from another adventure game a few days ago, she is about three inches tall not counting her wings, a half-inch taller than Issun . And because I know no one will notice due to the nature of JPG files... [link]

I don't care what anyone else says, Navi was a badass.

I like her, but when I went to face Ganondorf I got kinda miffed that she wouldn't stick around. Would've made everything SO much more efficient. I might've actually beaten him if I could've targeted him. -_-;

Welp, I think the fact that she's a teeny little fairy means that it's excusable that horrific and copious amounts of dark energy that only Link is capable of withstanding is a valid reason to be unable to assist.
Wait, so you never beat Ganondorf on OoT?

...True, true.
No, not yet. I rented Majora's Mask and Wind Waker around the time they came out, but I really sucked at them so I didn't really get into the Zelda series until college. I think that was largely due to the Ben Drowned creepypasta that led to me looking up a Let's Play of the whole game for story purposes, then I looked up the same guy's LP of OoT. Then I realized my college apartment's internet could connect to my Wii so I went crazy with Virtual Console. First time I played OoT was on my Wii, though it was only on my playthrough of the 3DS remake where I got to Ganon's Castle.

Ah, fair enough.
Me, a friend lended me a collector's edition containing the two 64 games for Gamecube.
Ben Drowned CreepyPasta?
Hmm, I like CreepyPastas, better check that out.

I was legendarily bad when I first played Majora's mask. I was gonna say how bad, but I forgot whether or not I've told you that story before so...yeah. XD
Yeah. It's mainly made up of hacked Majora's Mask footage, with bits and pieces of OoT, I think? Either way. I was a biiiit too much of a weenie to actually watch the footage, so I contented myself with reading the backstory.

Well, Majora's Mask was ridiculously difficult anyway, and never really gave you much of a reward for your efforts.
Oooh, sounds exciting!
I'm a fan of horror in general, though I'm a little bit of a lightweight technically.
The Tails Doll Curse got me into it, which is funny because it was pretty much a self-parody.

When I first played, I couldn't even get to the point where Skull Kid turns you into a Deku. I was that bad. :I
I'm not much of a horror person myself. Then again, most mainstream modern horror seems to be mostly senseless bloodbaths and misplaced sexual content anyway. I've seen some of the classic stuff like Dracula, though, I found that to be pretty good.

Ahh, yeah, that's not good.
True, most modern 'horror' is just gore, which isn't really scary at all, just gross.
I much prefer the stuff which sends chills without a drop of bloodshed.
... Most CreepyPastas don't do that, but ah well, they're fun anyway.
And yeah, sex should be kept faaaaaar away from the horror genre.

Yeah. Then I was all like "this game is too hard there's no jump button I'm goin' back to Paper Mario!!!"
I was going to say something witty in response to the horror discussion we're having, but I was distracted by a cat outside. XD

Aww, bless your little cotton socks.
Me and mah siblings started off with Gameboy games, mainly PokΓ©mon Red and Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening. So we started off without jumping at all.
A cat distraction is the best distraction.

Actually, I started off with Pokemon Yellow, but my first non-Pokemon game that I owned was Paper Mario, so I figured that any game with platforms and climbing needed a jump button.

Ah, so I take it you didn't happen to be on board for the initial Pokemon craze, back in 98.
See, back in them days, we didn't all your fancy Mudkippers and your Ossawots and your Numels, and there were only three ghost PokΓ©mon, although since they were of the same evolutionary branch, they pretty much just counted as one.
Ah, the stories I could tell...

I got into Pokemon in '99, actually. I remember I was definitely in the second half of first grade when I started watching the show, I just couldn't remember when exactly I got my first game (which was Yellow). Probably Christmas that same year.

Haunter-360 In reply to PuppyLuver [2013-01-08 23:10:08 +0000 UTC]
Ah, that sounds about right - When I first got into it we only had Red and Blue. Back in those days, Gameboy Color was the best handheld in everness, but we could only afford a Gameboy Pocket, which was in black and white.
Still, I gotta say, PokΓ©mon was really something back then - When something burst out of that grass, chances were it was going to be something freaky that you'd never seen before.

I kinda wish I had gotten Red and Blue instead of Yellow, actually. Sure, Pikachu's nice and my second favorite, but Wartortle's my complete favorite and having a Water-type before the first gym woulda made things a hell of a lot easier!!! ...er...j-just ignore that outburst....hehehe...

Yeah, I remember mostly having to rely on Nidoran and Rattata to beat Brock when I played Yellow.
I was actually a little disappointed that Brock and Misty weren't following you around as well. Could've made the game a lot more interesting...
Also, I remember people just seemed to GIVE you the starter PokΓ©mon throughout the game - But aren't they like, mega-rare?
Why on earth would someone just freely throw away awesome PokΓ©mon?

PuppyLuver In reply to Haunter-360 [2013-01-13 01:45:35 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that would've been cool, but I imagine it being much more difficult to program than merely having Pikachu follow you, plus you'd technically be granted access to 18 Pokemon at a time and that would be considered cheaty.
From what I remember, at least in the case of Squirtle, the cop (dunno if it was supposed to be Jenny or just a generic cop) would only give it to you if you could prove that you were good at taking care of your Pokemon. Perhaps he/she was denying it to others who asked because they just didn't seem very capable and, as story luck would have it, the player does eventually meet the criteria. I think there were similar circumstances with the other two.

Haunter-360 In reply to PuppyLuver [2013-01-13 13:54:27 +0000 UTC]
Well, you wouldn't have had them helping you in combat I don't think.
More like spectators. It'd have been hard to program admittedly, but not impossible. Still, it didn't really impair the gameplay that much, I just think it'd have made it slightly more interesting.
Bleh, they're still giving away highly-rare PokΓ©mon for free. I don't know, do they even ASK the PokΓ©mon if they want to be given away?

Again, I don't remember that well, but I think at least the Bulbasaur wants to go with the player.

Do you have a copy? Just curious, 'cuz I've been feeling the same way about Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga for the past few days due to watching an LP of it and I know I still have mine, my only excuse why I haven't started it up again is because I've been too lazy to break out the GBA.

Haunter-360 In reply to PuppyLuver [2013-02-10 14:54:33 +0000 UTC]
Nah, I'd have to use an emulator, since I don't own a DS of any form or description.
But you should definitely try out Superstar Saga if you like Paper Mario. It's pretty much on the same level.

I have tried Superstar Saga, just haven't played it in a long time. I've gotten past the part where Mario gets bean fever and Luigi is made to think he's Mario and I think I found...one of the Beanstar pieces, but that's it.
