Someday I will finish something I set out to do instead of completely derailing and drawing random hyenas with entirely too much shading.I like hyenas, yep. Not as much as I like wolves, but I wanted to scribble one and here she is. Hyenas are like, the butch asskicking vicious female comandos of the animal kingdom, so they're amusing.
Anyway, its plain old pencil and a lot of photoshop tweaking. I stick it in digital art because its more digital than it is traditional.

by the way, if you like wolves, I would HIGHLY recommend looking at a place called Wolf! They are an EXCELLENT rescue and placement organization! If you ever saw the Jeff Corwin experiance with wolves, he works with Wolf.

I like the change from your usual style, though your destinctive coloring style is still visible in the teeth and saliva. I also love the hyena analogy to ass-kicking butch commandoes.

Just a note, the way the shoulder bunches up there makes her look anthromorphic. No biggie, just an observation because I like to draw anthromorphs, and there is definitely a difference in the way the shoulder bunches up against the neck.

I like it, except -- and it may be my monitor settings -- it's hard to see it. It blends in almost a little too well. However, one might argue that it suits the subject and the detaisl of the mouth (teeth, salavia, etc.) stand out more because of it.
