Wow, I still remember the first ever picture I saw from you. The King of the Pumpkin Patch, how it was so detailed and flawless. It blew my mind back in 2003, and still does today.
Seeing what you've been up to recently after so many years I'm glad you're still drawing. =] You put so much expression on these faces, this one in particular. You can feel the heartbreak and dread the character must be experiencing. If I ever get half as good as you, well, that'll be just super. ^_^ As a human being, I'm always dissatisfied with my work and aim to do better. I guess I'll never be happy with myself, but I accept what I have already achieved thus far.
Do take care of yourself darlin', you've got a real talent.

I'm not familiar with the series or characters featured in this piece, but I feel like the expression you've given the character makes the piece really effective. To me, it strongly portrays a sense of disappointment, hopelessness, and terror all in one expression. I commend you on that.

Not sure how to word this criticism cos I think this looks amazing and I understand that it's a speed painting but if I cover the bottom half of the picture with my hand it really makes the lighting/colors look incredibly epic, and I think that maybe if the bottom half was a bit darker it would retain this. Just my two cents worth

read first 5chapters and then watched the first ep of the anime....I like Hamel better in the manga so fare. He seems to me what would happen if Lina and Gourry had a love child....bwwahahaha!

Well, the scanlations/raws are very badly scanned - they're just downright unflattering. The manga has great lineart and screentone jobs, and Watanabe's style evolves and really comes into his own. He's very good at expressing emotions both in faces and poses, too. You really shouldn't judge the manga by the first couple scanlated volumes.

That's kind of a cruel thing to say XD; Watanabe's art gets a lot better after the first two volumes (it is really old, its from the late 80s (pitch/development) and early 90s...). I don't really like it when people insult his artwork in comparison to mine so please don't do that

i watched the show and read through the manga after seeing your "Demons Flesh and Blood". SUCH A GOOD STORY!! manga is far better. ending was at least happy. anime made me cry

This is beautiful, Lute is my favorite character and his story is very sad for a kind character such he was. You caught the moment in which begins his "new" "life"...
I like everything of this work, the colors, the scene, Lute's expression, the perspective...!

Oh, wow! I used to read the series long ago. I think you really captured the raw emotion in this picture. I find it haunting and it stirs up that old story from the depths of my mind. Poor Lute. Well done!

.... Lute's ending always made me teary eyed. Even before it got to the last of the story. I have no gone from the stages of accepting going to work, to being utterly depressed.
I both love and hate Hell King Bass. Love because he's just a pretty awesome villain all around. Hate because well.. Is it not obvious?
This speed painting is awesome. The colors, the angle, it's all awesome, even the background, though not nearly as detailed as the foreground, makes this an awesome picture. That and the whole seeing General Bass' head floating there with the spine protruding out of his skull is just amazing.... though kinda morbidly gross....which makes it even more amazing.
I think I rambled on long enough about how much I like this picture. o.o And I think if this keeps up at least 75% of your VoH pictures are going to end up on my favorites... Oh wait, that's already happened.
