I think it's been long enough that i'm going to have to start promoting the voh manga again. Once I finish this picture i'm going to go into my big advertisement speech about how awesome it is and how everyone should read it.

though i want to fix the scanslations when they turn into engrish, I wish I had time to. am I a terrible person for that? ;_;

Lol, if I had the raws, I swear I'd re-translate and scanlate the whole thing myself, at least for the first 9 or so volumes. ScytheGP/Gourry had the best of intentions but those translation were horrifukkkkk oh god why so full of faillllll *sobbeth*

The scans were donated anonymously fromwhat I saw, just re-edit the existing scans!

The translations are all there, they're just too literal and in engrish. Just a simple rephrasing wouldprobably work well enough.

I tried - a year or so ago I decided to scanlate the first chapter into portuguese. In the end I used one of those old scanlations by Certhy as base, because the ScytheGP image quality was horrible in the first couple volumes (the screentones were gone in most pages :/ apparently they were scanned in low dpi BW rather than grayscale). And since presentation is one of the most important parts of keeping the reader's interest, just looking at the moire-d, barely there tones and the jagged lineart makes me sad in the face. Too bad Certhy only scanlated the first 3 chapters or so. Her scans were good.

That's true of most characters, but Oboe's musical expositon is downright unintelligible at times. It also irks me because I -wanted- to help translate/edit, but when I finally had the free time to volunteer, ScytheGP was practically done. And now that I'm translating and scanlating on my own, whenever I look at their scanlation I can't help spotting all the things they could've done better - like when they use the same damn font in the same size for every line, even shouts. Some chapters are better than others - the fight against Drum had great editing - but in the final chapters Chestra's lines were always the same font and size, even when he was hamming it up, and it bugged me to no end. So, what I really, really want to do is release a super-deluxe edition.

In short: I'm anal and obsessively perfectionist.

Yeah, I think my thinking is tho "anything is better, just at least let it be put into solid english"

But I refuse to cut up my set to get good scans :\ space has my old set, if you want to see if she'd be willing to donate it if you want to undertake such a project. I don't think she's read it more than once.

I'd LOVE to have good scanslations, I don't like reading scanslations myself, but I want to have some professional-like ones since I don't know if the series will ever get released properly (which I want to know why not, since houshin engi got released! VoH is more known than HE in western circles!)

I don't think I've ever talked to space out of comments on your lj XD but if she were willing to scan them, why not? And with the new series, the old one might just get a deluxe edition release as well. The final battle was released in a super duper mega-tankoubon, after all.

I doubt she'd be wiling to scan them, but you might be able to get her to sell the whole set to you?

and oh god it was re-released? I wish they'd re-release the whole freakin series, i'd treasure it! I need to get that re-release of the finale tho... I have the gangans of it with the color inserts, does the re-release have the color pages?

sadly I don't know if it does - I only ever saw the cover, not the content. I could try and hunt down the original post in the hameln community, I think there was something about that in it - I just don't remember if it said there were colors of not. *headscratch*

speaking of finishing things, i'm going to cheat your commission and do it in figure drawing because i've had a bitch of a time thinking up a good pose for her XD if that's okay with you, that is, I just need a lady to do a pose I can steal hahahaha

haha sadly most of the models we get are women, and the only men we get look like women.... there's only one male model I can think of right away that's actually got something like "muscle"

No! It's difficult to say! Manivy...MaNIvy...MAnivy...mANIVY... Anything that's difficult to say isn't worth doing/having. This is why I never buy sea shells when she's selling them on the sea shore.

That's...odd. They must figure that any work you do in the future is only going to feature women or pretty boys.

I want to give a gold star medal to whoever scanslated that entire manga... they make me so happy for giving me a way to share my favorite ...thing (not even manga lol just favorite thing) with other people. I peeked at their scanslations, myself, but reading manga on the internet is always so weird to me. I like to hold it XD (I'm thinking about shipping my voh set to california ...)

I've started reading it from the beginning again so I can refresh my memory since it was a few years ago when I read the volume on Here Be The Manga.
I'm glad someone scanlated it though. I've been wanting to read it since I came across your art years ago.
