Another fairy tale AU!?
Yes.

So, if you don't remember; at the start of last year (2022), I got inspired to make a Ratchet and Clank AU (since hyperfixation thanks to getting the DVD of the movie in November) of Cinderella after 2021 was filled with adpatations for them.
AND HISTORY REPEATED ITSELF CAUSE 2022 HAD THREE DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE CLASSIC ITALIAN STORY: PINOCCHIO!

And since in 2022, I got into a fandom about puppets that came to life via magic, it's no wonder I decided to create this AU.

The basic AU story goes like this:
Owen Gubberson was a lonely man, dedicating his life to his pride and joy: his four puppets, and sharing them with the small village for the children; the Handee family! Consisting of Mortimer (the father), Dasiy (the mother), Nicolas (the eldest son) and Riley (the youngest daughter). One night, a blue fairy arrived into his cottage and brought the puppets to life in order to give Owen a family. And at first, things were going well... But outside of Mortimer, the rest of the puppets felt unfurfilled by their wooden bodies and snuck out to explore the human world, discovering a new reason to be alive... But after bad results from their expereinces, the trio get scolded by Owen and espeically Mortimer; saying they should throw their dreams away since they can't get them as puppets. So, the trio decide to go and find the fairy to turn them into human. HOWEVER, Mortimer catches on and stops them before they cross the bridge to travel the world; and while trying to return them home...the family begins their own adventure of a lifetime. Meanwhile, Owen gets to open up to new friends (the people the puppets felt an impact on) as they join him on the quest to find him.
I will say that the rest of the story is roughly the same; a evil mastermind kidnaps one of the puppets to make into a slave, they wind up on a isolated island where they partly turn into Donkeys, get swallowed up by a monsterous whale and sacifice their lives to the point of being reawarded. But, there are some things that I want to keep secret as I may or may not write it for the summer fanfic (or just a regular fanfic). But, I will say that one nasty character from the original game gets a bit of a remdemption arc in this story...

But, let's just get my bias out the way first with the first character reference sheet I'll show you; and that is Nicolas Handee, or better known by his nick name, Nick Nack!
The comedic relief of the puppets, Nick wanted to do some solo performances at the fountain since he left like Mortimer always steals his spotlight; which is when he crosses paths with a brunette artist, the small puppet instantly falling for her. And while they both hit it off really well, their obvious differences such as height and life span makes him realise he has no chance with her, but if he was human, then maybe they could be together as a couple. When he finally turns into a human in his 20’s at the end thanks to his lover (Gee, I wonder who THAT is~) kissing his lips, the pair quickly got together and ended up married within two years. By the epilogue having a daughter of their own they named Scout
As you might have also noticed, I've completely changed the outfit on Nick Nack from his jacket and jumper design, to something more fantasy to match the asthetics of a fairytale. I decided to make Nick's outfit be based off a fairytale prince's outfit since his desire for becoming human is based on romance and personality wise, he is the most romantic. And OMFG I LOVE THIS OUTFIT FOR HIM ;W; Also yes, I did forget the wood texture but since this is more of a character reference, I'm not too bothered but I might fix that up later.
