So yeah
This meme has existed for a hot second
and so it's my turn~

Basically, this year, the popular internet meme for artists is the Colour Wheel challenge; where artists draw various characters or even their own ocs and stuff based on the eight colours in the colour wheel; Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Turquoise/Teal/Light Blue, Blue/Dark Blue, Purple and Pink!
Now, some artists stick to themes (like drawing colours for a certain media or genre) or they take in requests for characters from their followers.
So I'm gonna follow the latter!

Now, I had always wanted to do this challenge after following GinjaNinjaOwO's series of shorts on Youtube doing the challenge (www.youtube.com/shorts/4TviS98… ) But then after another favourite art youtuber of mine Love2DrawManga also did the challenge (www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFkXh9… ) I knew I just had to do it!

One problem...I was away on holiday around that time period; so I couldn't as I was away from my computer AND working on the collab project. But now that I have time, I decided I could do it!
And to mix in the two that inspired me; like GNOwO, I'll be taking in requests from my watchers via status posts; but like L2DM, I'll be limiting to one character per franchise as to have variety in character choices. But unlike those two challenge, I'll also be switching between male and female characters for each colours so we can have equal levels of gender rep (like four girls and four boys)

And without further ado, here are the characters and their respective colours!

RED
Strawberry Shortcake (2003)
Now, Strawberry here was quite interesting for me to get, as while she is themed after the red fruit strawberry; a lot of designs and reimagines of the character give her a more pink colour scheme than red. But thankfully, we did have at least two versions where her colour palette was heavily red, and since this one is naturally the more recongisable design, I went with my gut that the person who requested SSC probably meant this design for nostalgia purposes.
Plus I think I might have had some of the toys from this generation so drawing this girl was oddly nostalgic...

ORANGE
Son Goku (Dragon Ball Z)
So, while I'm not a full expert on Dragon Ball Z apart from the fact my boyfriend likes it and my two best friends simp hard for one the villains. But from I know, Goku himself is more chill and goofy in comparison to the other Saiyans like Gohan and Vegeta. Therefore I wanted to capture this as best as I could by giving him a happy expression. I also knew I should give him a pose to show his msucles since they're such a big part of the DBZ asthetic; so I made him cross his arms. And yeah, I did try to add some more muscle details to help make him look more buff; and I think I did a good job despite my more simplistic artstyle ^^: evenifihadtoredrawoneofhisarmsoof

YELLOW
Sunny Madison (Rainbow High)
I was rather happy when I got this character randomly picked, as from what I know about the franchise, I feel the most connected to Sunny as she studies animation and I have also studied animation too! Plus, I adore her shoes with the high sole that has rainbow stripes on it. I love her hairstyle as well with the heavy Sailor Moon influence (at least I think it's a Sailor Moon reference) and the two side bangs framing her face, mainly the twisty ones with his why they peek out of the colour frame.

GREEN
Raphael (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem)
Now when I was randomly given the option of picking a Ninja Turtle to draw for myself, I just ended up chosing the one turtle that another person requested, that being Raphael. Which I was fine with as while techically Raph's the RED turtle, since red was already taken by Strawberry, it's fair. But then came the problem of WHICH rendition of the character to draw; but luckily, since the movie's release, I just decided to draw the newest rendition from the new animated movie, Mutant Mayhem. Plus, if I were do the Rise design, I would end up drawing another buff guy X'D

TURQUOISE
Saki "Miyu" Mayuzumi (Yandere Simulator)
So, after a few seconds of wincing due to the infamy of the character's source material, I sighed and was just glad she was a more minor character in the game; which allowed me to take some creative liberties with her hairstyle; mostly to try and prevent her to seem like a Miku clone and it was a little funny reference to how she has canonically had the most hairstyle changes. I basically took the hairstyles from her 15th, 20th and 24th portraits and made this mash-up which I think helps make her stand out. And yes, I made her chest a bit busty as unfortnately this IS a fanservice game...

BLUE
Blu (Rio 2011)
Now Rio is a decently nostalgic movie for me, as I would happily watch it whenever it appeared on tv; and due to my dad's love for villain birds, I'm natually attached to this movie thanks to Nigel as it'll remind me of my dad. But back on topic; Blu is a kind of ironic choice to end up for me to draw, thanks to his name and how I don't typically draw animals in this style. But I think I did a pretty good job at drawing this blue bird! Plus, he's probably the largest character drawing I've done for this challenge thanks to the wings, which is why they're cut off as they'd just get covered up by Purple's character and cause a mess XD

PURPLE
Psyclaunt (Professor Toot's My Singing Monsters Ideas)
When I was randomly given this character, I felt rather confused as I didn't know where she came from, but after looking her up online, I was honestly debating on rerolling my random wheel until I found the lore of the guy's MSM OCs and....man. The angst involved really hit a inspiration, the story of a inventor's going a bit too far into portal expiermentation, resulting in the deaths of his daughter, himself and eventually his wife after a ton of scandals and such. I honestly ended up feeling bad for Sophia, so I decided to draw Psyclaunt anyways; and while she doesn't have a traditional prop, I gave her a ball of magic light as I saw in her offical art, she did have a glowing hand so I thought it would be a fun reference. And why is she crying? Well again, angsty backstory...

PINK
Piglet (Piglet's Big Movie)
To come full circle, we end on the nostalgic Winnie the Pooh character, Piglet; who from my memory, was actually my favourite member of the Winnie the Pooh cast. Now looking back on it, it was heavy forshadowing my future anxiety WOOOOOOOOOO. But back on topic, I knew Piglet had to be the more subtle and quiet characters; so I kept most of him behind the white frames. And yeah, you might be wondering why the purple scarf since? Well, I wanted to put more focus on his appearance from the movie: Piglet's Big Movie as it was my favourite Pooh movie from my childhood and in a lot of the screenshots I saw from the movie, Piglet wore this scarf so I thought it would be nice!
