Happy Halloween everyone! I’m back with a new drawing! This one is with Jack Skellington from the Tim Burton movie ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ and Grim from the tv show ‘Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy’. I’ve actually heard from my friend ColorfulFandomWriter that there’s a comic called Grim Tales where these two skeletons were brothers. It peeked my interest so much that I decided to draw them together.

Since I don’t know much about their relationship and life together, I decided to make my own backstory for these two and some made up family than their canon ones.

Grim and his younger brother Jack lived in the underworld where their parents were grim reapers of Hades, the skeletons coming from a line of grim reapers. The skeletons can age die to them having this sort of power or life source that’s making them age, but only little by little. When they were kids (don’t ask how it’s possible, it’s strange cartoon logic), Grim always Found Jack as annoying and basically wanted nothing to do with him, but he always had to watch him when his parents were busy. Since Jack was a curious guy, he often wanders off and it gets him into quite the trouble. After snapping at him to play by himself, which Jack does hesitantly, Grim has to save him from danger that could’ve killed him, and had to comfort him when he couldn’t stop crying. After that, Grim’s attitude towards his brother change, and the two grew close. Jack would always follow Grim around and mimic him, which Grim often had to hide a smile. Though of course Jack can still be annoying to him, but it wasn’t as bad. As they grew older, Grim was to be the next grim reaper much to his displeasure, with Jack next in line to be one as well, but the thing is was that Jack never really felt like it was what he wanted. He wanted to do something else, to explore the world. Jack was rather nervous to tell his family, including his brother, about what he really felt and wanted. And so after a while, Jack comes to the decision to tell his parents and Mom about his life choice, that he wanted to leave the underworld and find his own place out there. While his parents were surprised and a bit disappointed, they understood and respected and supported his decision. However, when Jack told his brother, the skeleton didn’t react positive. Grim took it rather bad and felt like Jack was abandoning him and heading to a world that he seemed as bad with horrible things. Jack though tries to calm him down and tell him that it couldn’t be that bad, but it led them into an argument before Grim snaps at him that maybe he wasn’t his brother and that to not expect him to save him if something were to happen to him. This left Jack rather stunned and...hurt, before he silently leaves, not wanting to upset him even more. Grim never even said goodbye as his brother left the underworld, and became more bitter. Of course Jack wrote to his parents often, and even to Grim, but Grim would never read them. This it led to a strained relationship between the two brother, though Jack never gave up trying to reach out to his brother.
