I hesitated between multiples titles such as "The one left behind", "Vector is a freacking bro" or even "Issue 22 killed me and that shouldn't be allowed".

I... I CAN'T EVEN...

WHY
WHY DID THE CHAOTIX HAD TO END LIKE THIS?!
WHY DID YOU HAD TO FREACKING DESTROY MY CHAMELEON CHILD LIKE THAT?!
AND CREAM
GOSH CREAM
THAT KID IS GOING TO BE TRAUMATIZED FOR LIFE!
I DIDN'T COME BACK IN THE FANDOM TO BE ATTACKED LIKE THIS!!

And for those at the back of the room who didn't read the IDW Sonic comics, do it!
I mean, it's not perfect, there are flaws like somme OCCness *cough*lookingatyouShadow*cough* and some stupid decisions from the characters... but overall it's a good story and it's getting better during the second part. I've never been a big fan of Archie and wasn't interested in it's stories, but IDW caught my eye and now I feel invested in it lol.

Now for some bit of spoilers because some of you might want to know what's going on on this picture, and why I'm currently crying in a fetal position!

Basically; IDW takes place after Sonic Forces, there's a first part where Metal is the main antagonist (not the most interesting part of the story, but it's still important to build up the second part), after some sheninagans Eggman decides to launch a metal virus on the world and that thing can transform any living being into "zombot" with mere physical contact. So, very easy to pass to one another.
So yes, it's a zombie apocalypse Sonic style.
Until 22, the only important characters who got infected by the virus are Cheese and Chocola (so two members of Cream's family gone... hooray), Shadow (Apparantly being a immortal being AND a jerk doesn't immune you against the metal virus) and Charmy (who just wanted to help and... well, that ended terribly for him). Sonic also got infected, but he's able to run it out thanks to his speed, however he can only rest for a short amount of time before he has to be on the move again. Poor Sonic is slowly tiring himself out from it!

Then came 22 and this is where everybody got their guts punched.
The last "zombot" apocalypse's survivors take refuge in the Resistance's HQ; there are also Amy (who's a true boss throughout the comics, my girl has grown so much!), Cream, Vanilla, Emerl, Espio and Vector. The two last Chaotix were able to catch Charmy, now a "zombot" himself, and trap him in a bubble, and they plan to take him to Tails' lab so when the fox is finally able to create a cure, Charmy would be the first to receive it. Of course things take a dark turn when it's discovered that one of the refugee was also infected, and suddenly Charmy breaks free from his bubble. It's total chaos in the HQ as Espio, Vector, Emerl, Amy and Cream are able to run away in the ship, but Cream has to watch her mother as she's turned into a "zombot"!

That's right, Cream is now an orphan! HOORAY! 8D

But it's not over yet!

Just before Vector and Emerl can close the doors to trap all the "zombots" inside the HQ, "zombot"!Charmy is able to escape and is heading toward the ship were all remaining survivors were able to run to. So, without any hesitation, Vector jumps on the bee, grabs him while knowing he's now condamned to turn into a "zombot" too, and heads back to the HQ to be trapped inside the building with the others, basically sacrifying himself to keep everybody else safe. All of this right before the eyes of a helpless Espio.
And Vector's lasts words to him, before Emerl closes the doors? "Hey Espio, you're lead detective now!"

AND A FREACKING SHOT ON ESPIO, ON HIS KNEES, NEARLY CRYING.

LOOK AT HIM HE'S BROKEN NOW! WE ALL ARE!
I WON'T REST UNTIL HE'S REUNITED WITH THEM, DO YOU HEAR ME IDW?!
AND I WANT VANILLA BACK TOO!
CREAM DIDN'T DESERVED THAT SH*T EVER!
