"I'm going to where Mom is now."This picture might be a slight Spoiler for the ending. But I don't think it's noticeable unless you've actually beaten the game already. So I don't think it's a problem.
I've been meaning to draw this scene since I first played Mother 3, but just now got along to it. The posing for the hug was based off a picture I found on Tumblr.
Anyway, I love how this came out. It's my favorite thing I've drawn in a few weeks. Please tell me what you think.

You know Mother 3 isn't the only Nintendo RPG game where the main character has to fight their brainwashed brother. It also happens in Paper Mario 1000 Year Door

I literally just saw this entire game for the first time today, and now, I would very much love to play this game, along with Earthbound (which I also have never played before, unfortunately).
Thing is, I knew how this game ended, I knew this was coming, however, I can honestly say that nothing in this game hurt more than when Hinawa said "Come to your mother", except maybe Claus saying "I'm going to where Mom is".Β
Now I can officially board the "How did this game never get a western localization?" train.

I have a bootlegged English version of the game (Mother 3. my Mother and Mother 2 cartridge is entirely in Nihongo [Japanese])(from a used game store at a mall), and I've played through it a few times, and I love it!

Yeah, I can see where the fanbase is coming from with this one, I thought Undertale had an unfair ending, but, this...this just left me feeling hopeless.
I'm surpised that I haven't seen it on more "Saddest Video Games or Video Game Endings" lists.

You know what's messed up. The bad guy in the game, Porky Minch, doesn't die, and it's said he's even HAPPIER after the game yet Claus, an innocent boy, dies! Same in the terms of Giegeu and Teddy in Mother. What the hell is going on?!

Well, really, Porky faces a fate worse than death, being locked within a capsule for all of eternity. Β Never being able to interact with the outside world ever again. And when you think of it at least Claus gets to be with his mother again.
But I agree, it's still so tragic. Β As is Teddy's fate. Β

I'm in complete agreement with the previous comment, this is most likely the best title on the GBA. Man, this scene made me cry uncontrollably; what a great game. It is so unfortunate that the western audience will never get to experience the world of Mother 3-heck, the entire Mother series in general! Sigh... perhaps in the future? Anyway, this is an awesome piece!

Yes, this is one of the best GBA titles, for sure. I mean, I like me my Pokemons and my Fire Emblems, but neither can match the sheer emotion of Mother 3. It really is a shame that they won't bring it or Mother 1 overseas. Mother 1 is a really strange case because they had a fully done translation and everything, it was all ready to be shipped but they finished too late and the NES was dead by then.

they could have saved the cartridge for the Gameboy a few years later, put the data on a gameboy cartridge, and then they could have shipped it!
there was many ways they could have solved this problem but they just decided not to. their mistake. with all the mother lovers out there doΒ you knowΒ how much money they could make!? they would be tripping on moneyΒ now!!
but they didn't think and thus....mother never came to the U.S.AΒ .
but at least earthbound is on the virtual console for the wii u....Β

Very, very true. Β They did something similar in Japan and put both Mother 1 and 2 on a GBA cart and sold it as "Mother 1+2." Β They so could have done that in the US. Β But they didn't. Β Because Earthbound was a failure in the US when it first came out, but now it's a cult hit. So it's very good that they finally ported Mother 2 again for the US. Β Now they just need to do the same to Mothers 1 and 3.Β
