Appearance:
His fur is light silver, but not reflective in the slightest. His pelt markings are in extreme contrast, as his paws and underbelly are a dark charcoal. However the most noticeable aspect of his appearance are most certainly the sinister flames that flicker across the back of his pelt.
His eyes look inverted, darkened selcra and a bright silver iris that strikes unease into those who look directly into them, these eyes used to constantly ooze a black tar-like tears, but have since dried up, and only leak when he's emotional or under extreme pressure.
His whiskers drip darkness, these droplets soon fade away and seep into the earth like raindrops.
Ashenpaw's back is completely engulfed in dark auma flames that run from the scruff of his neck all the way past the tip of his tail, mimicking what he once had
the flickering shadow-flames circle around his shoulders in a way that somewhat forms a wing shape, if you squint.
His fur has darkened across his eyes, forming a mask similar to that of a raccoon.
Ashenpaw stands proud and strong, having gained muscle and mass from diligent training with Hopflight to become a vanguard,
his paws, nose, tongue, and insides of his mouth are as dark as the flaming auma circling his body.

[HAZED]
Ashenpaw is a darkling, this means he comes with a lot of memory issues. His brain is foggy and his mind isn't always clear of the right and wrong things to do anymore. He has a hard time remembering things, including stuff that happens to him on a day-to-day basis. Often getting lost in his mind and forgetting what someone asked him to do, or why he's even there. Sometimes it happens suddenly, sometimes it happens gradually. Ashenpaw perpetually fights with his amnesia, and the darkness that's still trying to claim him. However exposure to safe haven and its light auma, and other cats, (especially Hopflight) have helped to fix most of this problem, but it's only a matter of time before the darkness reclaims his mind, he can feel it whispering the moment he steps outside of safe haven's walls.

Ashenpaw doesn't feel like he fits in with the rest of the cats, he's a darkling, the rest of the cats are normal (mostly). Because of this, he usually sticks by himself, watching from afar. He seems distant from everyone, and hard to approach. However that doesn't mean he wouldn't mind a friend or two. In fact, you'd be surprised how many cats notice the lil' guy just standing over there awkwardly watching them.
[STOIC]
Do not be mistaken, his darkness has corrupted him. Hardened his heart, cut him off from the rest of the cats, and made his emotions close to naught. Ashenpaw doesn't have emotions that are nearly as strong as the average cat. He might say things that would seem offensive to those who aren't familiar with his behaviors, he doesn't apologize, he just is. Though Hopflight has taught him a lot about the meaning of loyalty, he will uphold most of his thoughts to the morals of safe haven before he even considers his or other cat's emotions.
[STRONG-WILLED]
Ashenpaw retains one thing from his history. The one thing that no matter how dark the corruption gets, it's too deep within his bones- and ancestry -to remove from his behavior: The Loyalty to his clan.
This strong nature, his stubbornness and determination to carry out the tasks assigned to him flows through his bones like the very auma that radiates off his pelt. Though he may sometimes forget what the tasks are, you can count on him to do anything he sets his mind to. No matter the cost
[UNSTABLE]
Even though Ashenpaw may be cold and reserved, there are times when he snaps. Only brought on by over exposure to the darkness, His entire demeanor shifts and he changes into a drastically different cat; One who is filled to the brim with complicated emotions and evil intentions.
It's almost as though two cats are fighting against each other without realizing that the real enemy is the dark auma that has corrupted them. Whatever the case, this alternate personality is horribly corrupted, often lashing out at himself or other cats around him, he laughs, he is angry, he is sad, he experiences every emotion at once while scolding himself for some unknown crime.
[EASYGOING]
Ashenpaw is typically very calm and collected, he says what's on his mind but he doesn't get easily riled up or irritated. He tries his best to be understanding towards all members of Safe Haven but he has his own boundaries. when they're crossed, he most likely will stop talking or try to avoid the cat causing problems, rather than lash out at them.
[REDEPMPTION]
Being in safe haven has exposed him to mass quantities of Light auma, fixing most of his more negative behaviors and making it easier for him to exist within proximity to other cats. He's had plenty of chances to prove his worth and takes every single one of them. While he's within safe haven the whispering is almost completely nonexistant, and he enjoys the company of light auma cats just as might as he feels kinship with other darklings.
[SOCIALLY AWKARD]after having lived in haven for over a year, Ashenpaw has finally warmed up to the presence of other cats, especially after embarking on Tiger's proving, he has a desire to connect with others and make friends, though he doesn't know how to go about it just yet.
History:
BEFORE THE CALAMITY:

Ashenpaw doesn't remember his history at all, but that doesnt mean he doesn't have one! If you want to keep this a secret and descover it through roleplay, skip ahead!
Ashenpaw was once normal, he once had a regular name and a clan that loved him dearly.
His name was Slatepaw, and this is his story:
When Slatepaw was just a kit, he and his brother Gravelkit went out into the forest to play. Late at night they decided was best. They were just kits! They weren't allowed to play outside RaggedClan's walls, so they snuck out together, and wandered the forests without anyone around to supervise them. They had so much fun! Played in the woods together, pretending to be warriors and hunting to feed the clan. However, their games ended when a shadowy cat approached them and asked the two kittens what they were doing out so late. They told the mysterious cat of their games, he chuckled and told them he could take them to see something really fun.. The portal to the dark forest.
The kits exchanged glances, and followed their thirst for adventure rather than their instincts.
When they arrived, the shadowy cat who had lead them to the portal ventured through it leaving the kits by themselves at the gate to the underworld. Peering into the swirling darkness, they started to joke and dare each other to poke their paws into the portal. Or perhaps venture through it as well to see what would happen? What was on the other side..?
Toms will be Toms, as they old saying goes.. The boys kept pushing further until the unfortunate happened. Gravelkit was pushed too far into the portal, and his yowls of terror and screams of pain echoed through the night and ingrained themselves into Slatepaw's head. The poor brother ran home terrified, hoping that it was all just a bad dream, hoping that his brother wasn't killed and was actually just stuck behind the portal. He felt like it was his job to go rescue him. I didn't mean to harm my brother, it was an accident! He kept telling himself. Trying his best to hide this horrible event deep within his memory, claiming that he didn't know what happened to his brother, or where he had gone that night.
Slatepaw's mother was a hotheaded she-devil, who had a difficult time birthing kits. When she found out one of them went missing, and was presumably dead, she snapped. She began to take her anger out on Slatepaw, even though he refused to tell her what had actually happened. Her misplaced anger turned violent, and Slatepaw's father jumped in to try and save the day, but the heroic tom ended up horribly mangled and scarred afterwards.
Weeks went by, and eventually everything settled down. Most of the clan members forgot about Slatepaw's brother- that is -everyone except Slatepaw.
When the portals collapsed, StarClan and the Dark Forest were destroyed. It is said that Slatepaw's enthusiasm and constant remembrance for his brother called out to Gravelkit's spirit, pulling it to him like a magnet. The two cats souls fused together, and a dark and corrupted energy formed between them.
The brothers were now One. The mistakes erased, the bitterness withheld, the darkness approached.
It is unknown which brother holds full consciousness of Ashenpaw. If anything, both the brothers are conscious at all times. And during moments of instability you may hear mutters of their real names. yet to the average cat it just sounds like pure nonsensical insanity brought on by the dark auma.
Ashenpaw doesn't remember much of what happened while he was ashen, he has hazy memories of ripping and tearing creatures apart, trees exploding and cracks of earth opening before the paws of other cats before they were eaten by the very ground itself. He lived alone for a long time, completely engulfed in darkness. Before one day when he heard the call for unity, the Signal of Haven, and part of his old self returned to his ashen soul waking him from the chaos... and he was the first darkling who arrived at safe haven.
Family:
Mother: Spiderflame - A dark colored she-cat with blazing amber eyes and a heated personality. She was violent and mentally unstable, Slatepaw is glad she's gone as he began to hate her the older he grew. She was claimed by the darkness, for darkness lived in her soul. She was then eaten by the world itself when the end of all things destroyed everything. 
Father: Cedarpath - A kind and noble brown tabby tom with a knack for staying on the right path. He died just before the world ended, killed by a swipe to the throat by his mate Spiderflame. Although she was awful to him, he was deeply in love with her and never regret a moment of time he spent with her. He thought her temperament was just a quirk, and didn't realize how corrupted she really was. Slatepaw was good friends with his father, a kind old tomcat. sibling: Gravelkit – Deceased? Gravelkit was Slatepaw's best friend, he will never forget him.

Joining Safe Haven
{ The Darklings Cometh } - OSaC RP Log Ashenpaw was lost, he was a darkling who was shaken out of his stupor from the call, but he was still lost. the energies of the darkness seeping into his broken mind and causing him to wander aimlessly for weeks, the only reason he was able to survive was because of his dark auma, he looked like the ashen, he was an ashen.
Ashenpaw was (in canon) the first darkling to ever appear in safe haven, such a striking contrast to any of the light auma cats, the oddity was inspected by Hopflight as he discovered him in the forest one day, Ashenpaw swore his undying loyalty to safe haven and eventually Hopflight himself, giving him a reason to live and something to strive for. the first founding milestone of his personality begins here.
The Ashen Souls Routine Living
Adjusting slowly to life in safe haven, he feels outcast but finds solace in doing whatever task is given to him, it feels straightforward and easy to do whatever he's asked to do, he starts making small talk and occasionally chatting with various haveners but mostly sticks by himself and devotes all of his time and effort into training, however the orders started becoming sparse and his mentor grew distant from him due to his darkling appearance, it wasn't that long before she died trying to protect other cats from a beastly ashen, leaving the apprentice without a mentor, where soon Hopflight decides to take his training into his own paws.

Keeping to himself mostly, this is when all the big plot events start to kick off. directly after the events of his assessment where Ashenpaw got corrupted by the hellion's influence, Skinner's gang arrives. Chaos, turmoil among the cats of safe haven and Ashenpaw has no moral compass to follow, he just looks to Hopflight to tell him what to do, what to think, what to say. He has logical conclusions he can come to but he constantly looks to the monarch for answers on how to act, picking up subtle clues and hints based on what Hopflight is saying rather than what he's explicitly telling him.
The darklings start to loose themselves, cats begin to revert to the clutches of the darkness, Ashenpaw goes to Nicholas for help based on Hopflight's approval of the cat...

The darklings have been murdered, everyone splits off to search for clues, Aashenpaw is afraid to go alone, he hasn't made many friends and Hopflight is incredibly busy with all his monarch duties, the only way he can think to help is to investigate but he's been shaken to his core by the crazy events happening in safe haven that he doesn't feel safe anymore without Hopflight's presence, he pushes these feelings aside and searches with all his might to help solve the mystery of who killed these cats, hoping that he won't be the next target.

Nicholas has been revealed as the traitor, he's erected the tower of babylon and it's time for those who call themselves cats of haven to prove their worth and strike him down.
Ashenpaw teams up with Hopflight to tackle the seven trials, their bond growing ever stronger to that of father and son, Ashenpaw makes a bold move to sacrifice himself to the guardian before Nicholas to let his team pass through unscathed. This is the first time he has sacrificed himself for his team, but it won't be the last.

Nicholas has been defeated, its time to trial him, it's time to rebuild.
Ashenpaw takes a lot of time to recover after his final blow to the guardian, all of the cats are wounded and it takes a while but they eventually convene together and pull Nicholas in front of safe haven to atone for his sins
It's a bit of a chaotic situation, but eventually a consensus is given.

after all of that settles down, and Ashenpaw falls into his normal routine again, he starts to feel a bit drained and sad, thinking about the negative and chaotic events that has just occurred really got to him and he started spending /even more time by himself than he already was/ if that's even possible.
He had desires to talk to certain cats, but never really followed through with it and he started to become a ball of angst and misfortune that nobody wanted to hang around, he never knew what to say anyway.
But then things changed.
Snow, happened. and Ashenpaw was surprised, he had emotions, he had.. fun?
it took him some time to get used to this celebration and a bit of prodding from a few cats he knew, but despite the darkling's hesitation and dislike of the cold, he actually learned a lot about himself during Winterfest, and is looking for the future now, it's just what he needed to pull him out of his depressive episode
