I started this picture sometime this morning and gradually worked all day on it~I felt the need to draw phoenix, and I woke up today with this song stuck in my head: [link]
So I figured, Why not draw Phoenix to the song? 8D
So I did~
I secret Livestream'd the background of this, and according to that it took about two hours.
Then again, I wanted to add some little fiery comets or something coming from the sky, but I couldn't get it to look right so I just left them out xDD;
I think it turned out really nice ;3; I tried real hard to make my anatomy right but I could use some critiques guysss!~ <3
Oh, and I have to thank ~Frightling too, she red-lined (or in this case purple-lined because I sketched partially in red) the sketch for me when I first started c8
I BLAME THE COLD, AND THE BEGINNING OF THE EPIC MONTH OF OCTOBER FOR MY SUDDEN INSPARATION <3

i drew phoenix.i had to draw him! he's just so awesome! sorry i could't make him black the first one i drew i messed up the eye tring to fill it with paint then i destroyed it when i tryed coloring his body black with the paint bucket.
i drew it for ya purrlstar cuz your an awesome artist and he's an awesome cat.

This is truthfully, the best animal-based picture I've ever seen on DA.

Wow, everything blends & contrasts so beautifully, it's amazing! 8D
The background is absolutely beautiful and the mountains contrast perfectly with the sky.
Everything blends so amazingly in this picture, including the whole feeling to it, it's just simply amazing.
The markings and the wings are very well done and add I nice glow to the picture. I also love how you did the tears on Phoenix's face; he(I believe it's a male; sorry if it's a female x'D) has a very nice design. 
But, I have to say, the left hind paw is just a little larger than the others. Of course, it could be a perspective matter, so I'm not sure if that was done on purpose or not. 
Other than that, this picture is completely amazing and definitely earns a favorite.
I would SO critique this properly if I had a premium membership, but I don't. ;^;

I tried to pick colors that flowed well so I'm glad I was able to mix them well 
his left or our left? when I refer to drawings I usually use the character's left and right but that might just be me xDDD;
I was having some issues with his paws and I had to redraw them about six times before I got them decent, so I figured there might be something off about them. but thanks for pointing that out!

First off, another epic pic I love! So more bias! Yay! Also, don't forget to take everything with a grain of salt, your art is awesome!
Pros!
Well the first thing that struck me was the EPIC flame wings! *Sooo pretty!* They look like big fireballs of awesomeness! They're really blended well and are obviously fire, so they really communicate the sanger of the pic. (Sanger=Sad anger) Hence, I really hope that was the effect you were going for. <^^'>
Secondly, the tears! So realistic! They're just so.... I can't even say!Pretty! Yes! So pretty! Yet so sad.
Okay, the clouds! HOW ON EARTH DID YOU DO THAT?! They are EPIC! They look like they were painted onto, and yet the slight style difference still flows with the pic! In fact, I'd say it makes Pheonix MORE prominent! Success!
I also really like the lines to show the texture of the mountain! They really get the texture across well.
And that mouth! So realistic! Did you do any research/refing? I really like the teeth!
Also, the fur is really cute and poofy! He looks so fluffy! I wanna give him a 'feel-better' hug just to feel his fur!
Speaking of which, that expression is just purrlfect! So antagonized, so cute, so pitiful! So just ready to explode! So- expressionful!

Cons.
I'm sorry to do this to you again Purrl, but teh PPPAWWWWZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! 4. That's all I really need to say.
Now onto some new stuff! <^^> Although I love the mouth, the positioning of it in relation to the eyes is a little akward. I feel like we should be able to see a little bit of the other eye. I think it may be because both sides of the muzzle are clearly visible and are almost equal in size. If the farther side was a little more 'scrunched' it may seem less awkward.Hmmm... Maybe, maybe not. Can't really place my finger on this one.
Although I like the textured effect that the lines on the mountains and rock create, I feel they could have been blurred/transparentized a little bit as to blend with the picture a bit more. Although it does create some nice contrast with Pheo's wings and stripes, which have been completely blurred. Hey! Is this a pro or a con?!? *Shrugs.*<^^'> Hmm.. Guess I'll leave that up to you.
I like the overall shading, but the area on the rock seems a bit strange to me. Just shade where the paws are? It seems sorta odd. It would be much less 'odd' if the paw shadows were connected to a body and tail shadow. However, it does make a very dramatic effect that looks pretty cool. Great. I did it again! Pro or con? *Sighs.*
And FINALLY, my last point will be this, maybe make a bit more contrast in colour between the river and mountains. As it is now, it almost looks like the river is part of the mountains. A lighter more obviously blue shade would easily fix that.

OVERALL: Again, totally biased! Also, I forgot to mention the epic pose in the pros, but I'm too lazy to add it. <^^'> Sooooo, *drumroll* 4 1/2 out of 5! Good work Purrl!
