Description
Lol I know the whole Next Gen pony thing is popular right now. But I'm going backwards and drawing parents of current gen characters! (Well just ones I deem relevant to my interests.)This is Bulkhead, Dumbbell's father and Snowberry's lover. fav.me/d7j4cs6
Quick Bio: Bulkhead has lived on Kelpie Island for most of his life. His family is comparatively poor when compared to the rest of Equestria, but life on the Islands is simple and relatively lacking in stress, so everyone who lives there is happy.
Bulkhead makes his living as a fisher pony, providing most if not all of the seafood demands for Equestria, which is actually, expectedly, very low. Eating fish, like most meat, is taboo for ponies. But because ponies share space with Minotaur on the islands there is a lot of culture mixing. That includes the food. But harvesting fish is useful for other reasons. The main nutrient oils in fish is used often in vitamins and medicines.
Bulkhead himself is a very relaxed and easy going stallion and a friend of many. The opposite of Snowberry in a number of ways. While she tends to over think and brood on things, Bulkhead will just as easily say "Just let it slide, baby.", and the concern will not dot his memory again. Though this is just for certain instances where he thinks pondering life is frivolous. There are much more important things he needs to set his mind to, like getting work done and how to enjoy the rest of the day after he's finished. When he is not fishing, he is sailing for pleasure. Sailing is the next best thing to flying, he will often tell Snowberry. Sometimes he wishes he could fly high like the seagulls.
Despite this, one leg up he has over most pegasi, or just ponies in general, is that he loves swimming. Normally the physics of a equin makes going under water difficult without equipment, but Bulkhead taught himself how to swim as good as any fish. He can hold his breath for several minutes and has come across some really stellar pearls during his explorations.
Edit: Fun Fact! Horses can eat meat. It's rare sight to catch but sometimes horses and ponies will trample small birds if they can get close enough and gobble them up. Usually for supplementary reasons. There is a video on youtube about it. A tad disturbing. Which is why I settled on seafood. Though it isn't beyond me to say some tiny minority of backwoods ponies eat chicken, lol.

A structural safety device:
Bulkhead (partition), a wall within the hull of a ship, vehicle, or container
Torpedo bulkhead, a type of armor designed to keep a ship afloat even if the hull is struck by a shell or by a torpedo
Bulkhead (barrier), a retaining wall used as a form of coastal management, akin to a seawall, or as a structural device such as a bulkhead partition
Bulkhead door, an angled door covering the exterior stairwell of a basement
Bulkhead flatcar, a type of rolling stock designed with sturdy end-walls to prevent loads from shifting past the ends of the car
Rear pressure bulkhead, an airtight structural feature of an aircraft
It's the name for a lot of things.
