Dan (the one with the phone) likes to out trick or outsmart the predators. He is often able to get two into a fight, or get a predator to run after someone or something else. He figured out when he was young how the simple mind of a hungry dinosaur worked, and he used that knowledge to survive all of the attacks. His greatest weakness is he tends to be slow with his decisions. He can come up with a brilliant escape plan, but is often too slow or waits too long to execute it. He has ended up inside the bellies of more creatures than he can count, and he has escaped them all.

He showed Dave how to use a predator's instincts against them when he realized that Dave's 'fight or fight' mode would get them into trouble. He was constantly saving Dave from the depths of creatures. He knew if Dave wanted to survive, he would have to change his approach. To this day though, Dave's lust to be a showoff is still prominent, and Dan uses that to trick him every once in a while.

This is one of Dan's 'tricks to get Dave eaten': a simple sentence like, "Wanna see how long you can sit naked on a dragon's tongue? I bet you cant go more than ten seconds," drove Dave into this embarrassing situation.
