It's so ironic that they never had to play the game in the first place since YD didn't even care about being a clod. Unless...Yellow Diamond assumed that our Peridot was already dead since she remotely detonated the communicator. And she sent the rubies to get Jasper to punish jasper, because being the escort she was supposed to protect peridot. And the rubies were so simple minded and literal, they didn't realize they should have gotten Peridot too.
This is my Headcanon. And this way Peridot isn't completely worthless no matter what she does.
