-Spider’s Sting: a stream of powerful energy needles fired from mouth at foes.
-Both spinnerets and mouth can fire streams of thick webbing.
-Middle pairs of legs can be covered with webbing to allow for flight at Mach 0.5.
-Body can secrete an enzyme that dissolves its own webbing. This is mainly used to “collapse” the wing legs and use them for melee purposes.
-Eyes cover literally all regions of the head; top, sides, front, and back, making it incredibly difficult to escape sight.
-Has a fine balance between strength, endurance, armor, and agility. In addition, is an extraordinary jumper and an excellent climber.

Biography:
“It’s a bit hard growing up without any family. They raised me... But it wasn’t the same. I never knew what it was like to be ‘loved’ by anyone. I don’t even have a last name; I’m only referred to as Chris. It’s upsetting, but ever since I was young, Doctor Therias would tell me there were more like me... That one day I would be able to see them. I didn’t believe him.”

Chris was the first “super soldier” put into the Beast-Men project. The child was raised under strict surveillance, and was unable to socialize with many people. Growing up was difficult without having many friendships, and most of the people he befriended were broken off from contact when he was moved from his old home. His new home was in Pennsylvania, and with his 12th grade of schooling on the horizon, the government decided this was the time to tell him what he was.

Doctor Therias, the man who did his best to try and make things normal for Chris, broke the news. The young adult was part of a special government experiment; project “BEAST-MEN”. The government had been raising him specifically because of his genetics for use as a super soldier, capable of transforming into a towering Beast. These “Beast-Men” would be used to destroy the Beasts that were rising up and becoming increasingly more difficult to destroy. Therias explained that Chris could be something akin to the superheroes he watched on television, hoping this would make him enjoy the idea.

Chris wasn’t thrilled at all. He couldn’t believe that humans would raise their own kind specifically for experimentation like this. Therias did his absolute best to calm Chris down, and told him that he could save the lives of millions. When Chris asked what would happen if he refused... Therias said that the government would not allow it. Enraged, but realizing that he basically had no choice, Chris agreed to partake in the second part of the project. Therias brought Chris to, C.L.A.W. (Cooperative League of Accelerated Warriors), the project’s headquarters.

Therias introduced Chris to the head of operations, Commander Giger. Therias whispered into Giger’s ear the situation, and the commander let out a chuckle. He asked the boy if he ever wondered what it would be to live as a hero. A confused expression showed up on his face, and Giger went on to explain.

“I understand that you have not had many friends... But do not worry. That part of your life is over. Now comes the time where you are capable of socializing with everyone. There are those in this world who are unable to protect the weak from harm, as well as the ones they love. When exposed to Beast Serum, you will have the ability to protect the ones you befriend from harm. You will be able to make a difference in the world! You will be looked up to as a hero!”

Chris understood what had been placed in his hands... He wasn’t very fond that it was in HIS hands... But he knew that he had to do something. Reluctantly, he asked what was next for him. Giger smiled and asked Therias and Chris to follow him. They walked for a while... Almost fifteen minutes. Finally, they had reached their destination; a vast, outdoor region. It almost seemed like a runway for aircraft, but there was far different things going on here. Jeeps were driving around as scientists and soldiers alike frantically ran about, as if preparing for something.

When Chris questioned what they were doing, Giger told them they were preparing for the first training exercise. Chris was even more confused, until a scientist came over and handed a container over to Therias. Placing it on the ground and opening it, the doctor picked up the precious cargo... A syringe filled with an orange colored fluid. Chris knew it immediately; this was the Beast Serum. Chris closed his eyes as the fluid was pumped into his body. Therias told him specific directions; First, Therias handed him what looked like a piece of candy. Then the doctor told him to go out to the middle of the area, at least 100 feet away from any human. Once he had done that, he was told to eat the “candy”.
Chris took the candy and stuck it in his mouth. Swallowing it down, he licked his lip and then turned towards where Therias and Giger were standing as if to ask “What next?”
And then it happened.

Chris felt a strange feeling and looked down at his body, shocked at what was going on. He was slowly converting into energy! He let out a cry of terror as his form completely turned to energy, shrinking down to what looked like a small floating dot. Suddenly, the dot expanded and was taking on an entirely new form. The energy converted back over to natural life... And standing where Chris used to be was a massive, humanoid spider Beast.

The creature looked down at its own form and seemed to jump in fright! It turned to look at Giger and Therias, who were shaking hands. The transformation was a success. The scientists and soldiers cheered in excitement, and much to its surprise, the spider could see this, despite examining its own body! It then hit him; the candy had turned him into this Beast. Chris’s Beast form was a giant, humanoid spider. He looked over to see webbing entwined in his middle pairs of legs. Wings? He faced the commander and doctor again, wondering what would happen next.

The commander smirked and only said one thing; “Chris, your training starts now!”

Trivia:
-Chris has stated many times that the “candy” tastes a lot like Reese’s Cups.
-Ironically for a spider, Aranthos has no hair. It is believed that the sensory hairs to pick up vibrations were “ditched” in favor of improved vision.
-Another strange biological factor of Aranthos is that he has three body segments, instead of two like a regular spider.
