Description
It's a long time since I did anything gothic\vampirish so I feel this is well overdue!Everything painted although I used a texture for the pattern on the bodice.
This took about 30 hours over two weeks but I'm rather pleased how it turned out!

I've seen his artwork before but I've never seen his speed paintings and wow they are pretty amazing. I'm not sure there is a lot to learn from them though as he seems to use a lot of photographic brushes is the speed paintings which he doesn't use in his other paintings. I think he is one of a small number of commercial artist on dA who are simply in a different league to everyone else. I can't believe how quickly he can create such amazing pictures though. I may have a go myself although it's sure to end in failure!

and again m don't be so harsh on yourself , you never know
what you can really do unless you try .. and as for failure

It looks a bit like a 3d model, her skin lacks texture and maybe some highlights, also her chest seems unnatural...
Other then that, the image is awesome.

Why an insult? You must know your anatomy very well to make it look like that.

Because 3D models always looks like 3D models and often like plastic dolls. It's the very thing I most of all don't want my drawings to look like! There isn't much point spending 30 hours on a painting to have something that looks straight out of Poser!

pretty work! ^^ curious...ever think of adding a little of blood on her lips, and a drop of blood threatening to drop with maybe slightly longer nails? just curious if you had thought of that tweak. still love it! ^^

The skulls could use some more detail, but other than that beautiful picture. I love the bodice.

Yes, I had an earlier comment of the skull, I hadn't intended to have much detail but may be they were done a little too quick so I've made a slight adjustment to them! Thanks for your comment!

Yes, I hadn't intended to have much detail in the skulls but you are of course right and I rushed them off a bit too quick. I've now made some changes with I think is a little better! Thanks for commenting!

Thank you Karla! I was quite pleased with this one, I had been a bit disappointed with my earlier three though. I do feel though that my paintings look a bit too much like manips and I don't seem to have the imagination to get away from that lol!

I wonder how you can break that ....but do you really want to ? Its been an integral part of your artwork so far Derek....its what you cut your teeth on.....learnt composition, blending etc etc....

I learned a lot from manips which applies to digital painting to although some things I seem to have forgotten looking at some of my attempts! I do think though that it is the final result that counts not how you get there and it is up to the artist to find the quickest and easiest route to the final goal. If you spend 30 hours of a painting which looks like a six hour manip then it is really a failure! Still it's early days but it seems a long journey!

You have the determination and patience Derek.....that will get you there in the end....its not a race and its going to make you a better artist for having done the hard yards and learnt the hard way......I have no doubt you will master this my friend
