I want to say it's her forehead and how squished down her eyes seem to be. A lot of fanart of her makes her look just fine. XD

There's also the teeth, which are reversed from normal inkling teeth from what I've seen, and are pink-ish, which looks really off.

The pink-ish coloration was just some rather unfortunate lighting during their debut (made it look like she was all gums lol), but the inverted fangs(?) are definitely a bit odd. I noticed Marina's were that way too, and I actually thought Pearl was supposed to be an octoling for a brief moment in time because of that. XD

I certainly hope they fix that lighting for when the game comes out, since we have to look at Pearl a lot.

She looks a lot better under the usual lighting in her and Marina's studio. Still not too fond of her design, but she at least goes from "dear god what IS that" to "oh, you look ok I guess." XD
