The tide finally turned when the First Hero appeared. Through a ritual that would come to be known as Astral Drift, the First Hero was able to tap into the raw aural energy of the Astral Plane, turning him into a god among men with superhuman traits, and a unique special ability to pilot an avatar of aura of colossal size, allowing him to bring the fight directly to the Great Beasts. His victory against Stonehead was the morale boost humanity needed, and as more people started learning how to achieve Astral Drift, more superpowered warriors joined the world's combined military forces, using their abilities to both help on the battlefield as well as develop new countermeasures to repel or defeat more Great Beasts. Slowly, but surely, one could see peace on the horizon.
