I really like and find interesting that you've portrayed a much more mannish, humanoid version of a balrog here. It's usually not the case at all, as I'm sure you're aware. In fact, the only other artist that I've seen do so is Catherine Chmiel (and perhaps Alan Lee's version in the LotR Sketchbook). I must admit, I've always been daunted by the prospect of portraying a balrog since I don't think I can quite capture it properly. I'd have to say, though, that the way I envisage them in my mind's eye is somewhere in-between the humanoid and the more typically monstrous that everyone usually goes for - but probably leaning more towards the humanoid. Fantastic!
