What a lucky picture! I'm rather surprised that you got so close.

I enjoy the capture of the butterfly with it's wings spread open, in my experience that is a hard capture as butterflies tend to flutter around a lot. I like the detail you got- the patterns on the wings, the lines across it's body, the antennae, even it's mouth.

There seems to be expression here, as though the butterfly is looking at you, asking, "Who are you? What in the world are you doing? Are you looking at me?". I'm very pleased at the capture you've gotten with the head tilt.

The placement of the butterfly in the image is nice- I'm glad that you didn't crop it down so the butterfly is right in the center of the picture. To me, that would have really detracted from this image as a whole.

I also like the color, the orange against the green. All the colors are muted, nothing over powers anything else, yet the warmth of the greens add depth to the image so it doesn't become flat. I think the white on the butterfly is all the pop of color really needed.

The only reason you don't get a full five stars is because:
1) This isn't original, it's a very frequent seen capture.
2) Impact could have been a bit stronger, if there was brighter color on the butterfly.

Lovely picture though, thank you for sharing!

Ah, sure thing :3

I've only ever gotten that close once, and the butterfly tried to give me a heart attack. It flew and landed on my camera lens for a few seconds. All I saw was black, as I look through the screen and not the little hole xD

Thank you, for the points and the llama. Huge surprise, greatly appreciated~

I like the muted colors - it gives it an almost calm feeling. Some parts of butterfly are a bit blurry though, but I'm guessing that's mainly due to the shallow depth of field. Maybe a smaller aperture would help get more of the detail next time? Also, placing the butterfly at an angle in the photo might give it less of a "typical" feel, since these types of butterfly photos are so common. Having the butterfly cut across a corner (if that makes sense...) might make it a bit more interesting.
