Hah, well, this is why I didn't update my Nuzlocke this week. I've been too busy playing Wind Waker~!
Solike, my favorite enemies of this game are the big octos. They're just so huge and delicious and cute and....I'll stop there. The thing is though, they need more love. Seriously.
Imagine playing at like 2AM with it raining outside, you had just gotten the boomerang, and you're sailing happily along. All of a sudden, the music blares over-dramatically, and this HUUUGE fucking squid thing emerges from the water. The worst part is, it's dragging you in with a giant whirlpool. Oh wait, that's not the worst part. The worst part is, it's one of the 12-eye ones. Yeeeah.
This took a combined total of about 11 hours. When I actually take my time on a piece, it turns out damn awesome. Unfortunately, 6 of those hours were just dealing with clouds and making them look semi-decent....

When I was younger, I used to be afraid if the idea of giant squids, having been introduced to the book "Thousand leagues inder the sea" at a young age.
So, needless to say that being introduced to these guys didn't cause a very positive reaction from me.

Nice i can use it, i saw your big octo illustration weeks ago already but had over 60 entries together for the first round of link`s blacklist ..knew it is a lot and wanted to safe it for the 2nd round ^^

Haha, awesome pic! I loved fighting the big octos too -- I wish there were more in the game! So much fun. Anyway, love the composition and coloring in this! Captured the action wonderfully; my heart's beating faster just looking at it, like I'm the one who has to throw the boomerang lol! XD

i love the water and cloud effect in the background, plus making the eyes the focal point by making them the brightest part of the whole picture is a nice touch. great work!

well you did hit the mark on "epic" i'll tell you that. ^^ i used to think the octos were a one hit kill but found out they weren't; i think it would have been a better challenge for it to be an instant kill enemy.

Exactly. I mean, one hit from one of THOSE tentacles, and you'd be sunk! Either that, or even being eaten by them and being killed. That would be a pain as well.

yeah, WW, as much as i LOVE that game, was quite easy and i think if it had more threatening foes and such, it could have been even greater.

Holy crap, I think my epicness meter just blew up! This is awesome! I love how his eyes are the brightest thing in the whole picture (almost makes the Big Octo as eerie and creepy as the re-deads 030). It emphasizes the Big Octo's epicness and the fact that you have to kill ALL. TWELVE. EYES. That or you get sucked in and pit out at some random place far from your next destination lol. And having only the boomerang makes it even harder, since you have to hit each eye like, 2-3 times... and you can only target 5 at a time... *cough*ASSUMINGYOUONLYHAVETHEBOOMERANGONHAND*cough*
BTW, your six hours of work on the clouds have DEFINITELY paid off~

I actually had to re-do the clouds a couple of times. Getting them to look like that stormy-sea-omfg-a-hurricane-is-coming look is difficult if you aren't used to drawing that type of cloud. I usually just draw those poofy cotton candy clouds, lol.

Octorks ftw! Though I love the Rito and Anouki race the most, I just can't deny the epicness of the octorks. 030 I either use the bombs or arrows to defeat the giant octos because its a great way to practice my aim, cause my arrow aim is awesome, but my cannon aiming fails 030. I do occassionally bust out teh boomerang every now and again, cause it IS one of my favorite Zelda weapons all around~
Those clouds are awesome though. Makes me wanna practice drawing storm clouds too, cause I only do the cottony fluffy clouds also lol.

It was just so much fun! I spent hours looking for them, glancing around for the seagull flocks and such. One of my friends calls me crazy since I actually liked the whole sailing around aspect of WW.
