I had the same idea, but the mountains around here get in the way, and a shot from the same vantage point is boring.

Thanks! I was thinking of heading down to city hall to get a few sunset shots in the summer, since I could maybe get a glimpse of the city's (scattered) skyline. Seems like a pretty sound idea, I'm sure it won't get too boring.

Sounds like a great idea.
It sucks where I live for sunset or sunrise photos. All the damn mountians! And there not even photogenic mountains, they're always covered in haze from all the pollution!
