I agree that he's an odd choice, considering he never really was a villain, not by choice at least. Hell, if anything, he actually tried to save the damn world by bringing Tidus into the whole thing. (if I remember/understood correctly)
Seymour, on the other hand, was actively villainous and a complete and total jerk.

Screw Seymore! There are plenty of androusy male villain. This, on the other hand, is a hunk.
