Character model sheet created for one of my classes. Pardon the wall of text; I really enjoy this creature.
This is a Soulkeeper, a creature that resides in the Afterlife and prevents souls from leaving. A soulkeeper is a neutral party, just fulfilling its duty by capturing spirits in its chest, and releasing them within their respective afterlife (Valhalla, Heaven, Hell, etc, it all belongs to the same place, it depends on what the soul believes.) All of them look like this, although their colors may vary depending on the individual. All of them used to be alive, and ravens are the most common spirit to be transformed into a soulkeeper because of their tendency to follow or guide spirits into the afterlife. Not all ravens (or animals, for that matter) are transformed.

This particular soulkeeper was a female raven who drowned in a flash flood. Upon her death, she was turned into a soulkeeper because of her interest in taking lost souls down to the afterlife. There is a bizarre hierarchy in the Afterworld where some spirits command and control other, weaker, or generally lesser ones. More and more spirits try to leave the afterworld, causing this Soulkeeper to question why. She eventually changes her neutrality when she learns that the higher souls are controlling her as well, allowing their own to get past her but the lesser souls are always caught and punished. She joins the resistant spirits and earns the nickname "Sol," transporting them to wherever they need to be, whether it be another part of the Afterworld or even back to the land of the living.
