❥ PERSONAL
"You're improving...but it's not enough. Let's continue training. "
Personality:
POSITIVE motherly, gentle, responsible, cunning, leaderlike, protective
NEUTRAL cautious, suspicious, introspective, conventional, fussy
NEGATIVE hyperreactive, instinctively violent, resentful, weak-willed, controlling/stubborn
Lucille has an innate instinct to protect people, and to act as a mother figure towards them. However, she is very selective about who she does this with because she strongly believes that people need to learn how to fend for themselves, and should not rely too much on others. When Lucille sees someone struggling, although her brain screams at her to step in and help them, she stops herself, which is also due to her fear of the consequences. Though, if you are somehow able to befriend her, she will always be the mom of the friend group. Especially with her friends and children, she has a very gentle soul. Though the things she says may immediately seem rough and harsh, every thought that runs through her mind is gentle. She is also very responsible, a part of her that was present since a very young age. Whenever she says she'll do something or is given a task, she will always get it done. She naturally takes the leader position in any group activity when given the opportunity. She feels more comfortable leading a situation when she has control over the decision making. She doesn't enjoy it, but she purposely puts herself in a Role Model position for others, trying to lead by action- not babying. This comes from her experiences as a trainer/camp counselor. She'll also make cunning and brave decisions in order to inspire others when its smart. These are all traits that she adopted also because she admires police officers and wants to be one herself.
She has forced herself through training and past experiences to become more cautious and suspicious of situations or peoples behavior. As a child, she was very gullible, and that was something that had to change. She'll have a really hard time trusting someone unless she knows for sure that they are trustworthy and safe. And it will take even longer for her to become comfortable around them. She is also very introspective, in that she spends most of her time thinking to herself. She will spend hours upon hours analyzing herself and addressing her thoughts, and sometimes she can't seem to get out of her own head. She'll daze out even during meetings or conversations, and thinks a lot about something before taking action. She tends to confuse herself with her own thoughts. Lucille also enjoys following a more conventional form of life and has become a stickler for following the rules. Because of her past with delinquents, she has learned to distrust anyone who likes to break rules or cause harm and will go out of her way to correct them. Safety is very important to her, as well as people learning their lessons. Lu can also come off as very fussy towards people she is friends with, constantly worrying about their eating habits or their health.
When something happens that Lucille is not comfortable with, her instincts are to either run away or fight. She's been trying to gain more self-control, and teaching herself to be less reactive and instinctive. The move Calm Mind really comes in hand with this problem. But when there's an issue, her instincts always point in two opposite directions: Either run away or break someone's nose. Lucille also tends to hold grudges for a very long time, particularly against people who in the past have betrayed her, or purposefully create chaos. For example, she will definitely hold grudges against delinquents, criminals, shady people, and fire types. She's very quick to blame fire types because of her experiences with them. This next part may come off as a shock, but she is surprisingly weak-willed, once you breach the wall of stubbornness and controllingness. She easily submits to people she trusts and breaks down rather easily. Her being stubborn or controlling is to prevent anyone from ever getting too close to her, as well as for her to stay in charge of a situation.
❥ HISTORY
" We all have memories we'd like to forget."
Family:
Father - Lawrence Luvett - Lucario (45)
Mother - Felicity Luvett - Mienshao ★ (42)
Uncle - Nathaniel Thomas - Mienshao (37)Hometown: Tincaster, Ruby Island
History:
(TW: Violence, Parental Rejection, Burn Inflictions, Manipulation, Over-Exersion)
Early Life
Lucille was born as the only child of Lawrence and Felicity Luvett, a hard-working couple right in the middle of the hustling and bustling city of Tincaster. They lived in a small penthouse apartment in one of the many towering complexes. Having a child was never part of the plan, the two lovers had decided that from the very beginning. They were both lawyers, you see, and incredibly busy. Working constantly for hours upon hours, and then using all free time to sleep. They rarely ever got to see each other in their free time, so raising a child seemed impossible. But, some things just happen the way they do, and they became the parents of a young and energetic Riolu daughter.
Felicity was obsessed with her newborn daughter. She would constantly miss work to play with Lucille and could never stop thinking about her. But it became a real problem, considering she almost lost her job multiple times, and their living arrangements were incredibly expensive. Lawrence was more concerned with the amount of money they were generating to provide for Lucille and their family in the future- not as concerned with the daughter's daily attention needs. Luckily, there was a solution. Felicity’s younger brother Nathaniel had come to town looking for a place to stay and was allowed to live with them as long as he also looked after little Lucille. And so, Lucille now had a babysitter, and also a new best friend.
When Lucille was 5, Nathaniel was around 17. He was an intellectual, studying plant life, and wanted to become an explorer. He would teach Lucille all of the things he knew about Guilds and Explorations, and they would go on pretend imaginary explorations together around the house. Lucille loved her uncle Nathaniel, and they got along incredibly well. But Nathaniel was also busy too, constantly studying and planning what course he’ll take after moving out of Tincaster.
School
Lucille’s mother Felicity strongly believed that Lucille should go to a small religious private school, just like she herself had done as a child. However, there were none nearby, and no one free enough to escort her so far away. It would have been way too inconvenient. So they had to settle for a large public school just down the street, that Lucille could easily walk to. Lucille learned how to walk to school and back all by herself at age 7, after much rigorous training and scolding. Tincaster was a dangerous place, and with no one having enough time to take her to school, they had to make sure she was fully prepared to be independent starting at a young age.
At school, she became quite well known, but not for the best reasons. She had easily made a lot of friends and was very protective of them. She had always had that protective nature about her and was very quick to aggression. Whenever any of her friends were bullied even in the slightest, she would start a physical fight. She had the egg move High Jump Kick, so that came in handy. The teachers were pretty aloof, so it never really was something that was brought up to parents. She quickly became the mother-figure around her friends even at such a young age, most likely due to her parental neglect, and how she was required to become very mature and responsible quickly.
When she was 8 she saw a small Rockruff wearing glasses and a classy sweater being teased and bullied at lunch break. The bullies were a Bulbasaur and a Chikorita, two notorious 9-year-old jerks at the school. Without a second thought, Lucille intervened to protect the Rockruff, and was able to fight them off - giving them only a few scratches, but just enough for them to give up and run away. The Rockruff was amazed and impressed, and incredibly grateful. The Rockruff’s name was Dustin Millers, and he was a year older than Lucille. The two of them immediately became close friends. Dustin appeared to be rather sickly and skittish for his age, so Lucille would constantly protect him.
A couple of weeks later, it turns out that the Bulbasaur and Chikorita had both stopped coming to school. The rumor was that they were mobbed by a bunch of fire types since they were apparently covered in giant 2nd and 3rd-degree burns, but nothing was confirmed.
Dustin and Lucille stayed close friends for many years. Sometimes Dustin would meet Lucille at her apartment complex just to walk to school with her. Lucille would always tell Dustin that he didn’t need to since it was so far out of the way for him, but he insisted. He told Lucille that he felt more comfortable around her, and she couldn’t really say no to him after that. They had a powerful bond. At school, people were deadly afraid of them, and wouldn’t approach them. Dustin had grown a lot very quickly and had adopted a very cruel, and violent mindset that didn’t seem present before. But he was always sweet and soft around Lucille, so she didn’t really ever notice. And besides, everyone else was too afraid to try to become friends with her, so Dustin was all she had. So she was able to ignore his flaws because of that.
Early Teens
Going into the teenage years, around the age of 14, things still weren’t very good at home. The family had spent the last few years drifting along, the same routine every day. Work and School, and then getting home to sleep. There weren’t really any huge events, and the family still didn’t spend very much time together. Each morning, there would be some pocket money waiting on the counter for Lucille for her day, to pay for things like lunch and other small things. Gifts for holidays like Birthdays and Christmas was always just sums of money as well.
Nathaniel, now age 27, was getting ready to leave the house. He had completed a few classes at a nearby university and had decided that he wanted to go conduct research in Airedale, and was going to depart in a couple of weeks. This made Lucille pretty upset, considering that Nathaniel was really the only one she had at home, and she had grown up with him, but she understood how important research and exploring was to him.
A couple weeks later, after Nathaniel moved away, Dustin disappeared. Lucille searched everywhere for him, but she had never met his family before or seen where he lived, so she had no clue how to find him. And with Nathaniel no longer at home, she felt completely alone. She had no other friends at school and no friends at home. She spent each day at school sitting alone, listening to rumors and people whispering around her, talking about her behind her back. She couldn’t take it, it was driving her insane. This went on for months on end, and somehow she was able to just barely hold onto a sliver of her sanity. She missed Dustin, so much. Dustin was cruel, and negative, and bossy, but he was all Lucille had. Lucille had always been strong physically, but never really mentally. She completely broke down without the support of her friend.
Finally, Dustin returned. They saw each other again in an alleyway near the school, but he had changed. Dustin had evolved into a midday Lycanroc, he was much taller and covered in bruises and scars. Behind him, were some of his new friends. They were all dog pokemon, and very hostile looking. A couple Houndooms and Houndours, another Lycanroc, and an Arcanine.
Dustin revealed to Lucille that he had joined a street gang, which were very popular at the time in Tincaster. Their motif was a depiction of burning roses, and they all had matching gang tattoos. Dustin also revealed that it was him who burnt and beat up those two grass type bullies so long ago, having been taught Fire Fang and Hidden Power Fire. He relished in the feeling of power and strength fire gave him, and invited Lucille to join them.
Now, Lucille has grown up in a snobby, stuck-up family, but Dustin had a way with words that she just couldn’t say no to. Dustin was her only friend, and she didn't want to revisit the pain she had gone through without him there. Lucille was terrified and uncomfortable with the idea of joining a gang, but Dustin knew her too well. He knew just how to manipulate her decision making, and how to convince her to join. He couldn’t do it without her, he would say. He loved her. He cared for her. And she couldn’t deny him, she couldn’t be left alone. She couldn’t be abandoned. Not again. And so, she joined the gang.
The Gang
Because of Lucille’s home life, it was pretty easy to keep her activities with the gang a secret from her parents. Each day she would leave the house in the morning, but instead of going to school, she would meet up with Dustin to go hang out with the gang. And like I mentioned before, the school board never got involved.
Dustin still held a huge grudge against people who looked down on others, especially the wealthy. Lucille didn’t know anything about his family, but it was clear from his hatred that he came from a poor family. Lucille knew it would be a bad idea to tell him about how her family was relatively well funded. Day to day activities in the gang included beating up wealthy couples on the streets, pulling people into alleyways and robbing them, kicking over garbage cans and setting fires. Lucille never learned a fire type move, but they had her help in other ways. She was practically the muscle, constantly being sent out to do dirty work with them, it was awful.
It became very clear very fast that there was something seriously wrong with Dustin. He started acting more sadistic and more obsessive over Lucille. He would pet her and brush her hair, and treat her like a pet or his personal caged song bird. He would coo her name in her ear, calling her “Lucy” or “Lucy, my darling”. It made Lucille so uncomfortable and deadly afraid of him, but she couldn’t bring herself to escape. She had so many excuses clouding her mind to keep herself from leaving, and Dustin would say all of the right things to make her stay. That her family didn’t care about her, and that everyone at school hated her, and that he was the only one she would ever have or need. He was able to convince her to get a gang tattoo to match them. She got a patch of burnt/burning roses that traveled from the back of her right shoulder onto the side of her neck. Underneath, it says, “Pretty Little Mistake” - Dustin’s personal touch. It took her awhile to find out that extra detail.
One day, they decided to do something a lot more risky than their normal activities - they decided to rob one of the small banks nearby. They were on there way when Lucille broke down and started panicking and crying. She told Dustin that she couldn’t do this and that this scandal was too much for her, and that they should turn around and run. Dustin tried to talk her back into it but she was too far gone, trying to escape. Dustin turned furious. He spat at Lucille, accusing her of betraying him and thinking that she was better than him. He had entered a rage that could not be controlled, so Lucille started running. She ran as fast as she could, but she didn’t make it very far. She tripped and fell, and then Dustin and his friends were there. She turned to look up at them from the ground, to try to protect herself - but it was too late. She was able to catch a glimpse of Dustin watching, as one of the Houndooms walked up to her, and unleashed a fire type attack. She screamed louder than she ever had before as she was hit by the fire, it wrapping around her tail and her lower back. The pain was too much, and she ran out of hit points and fainted.
She woke up in a hospital, bandages wrapped around her tail and her waist. Her father was next to them, talking to the doctor, her mother nowhere to be seen. The rest of the gang members had been caught and immediately arrested, while Lucille was sent to the hospital.
The police found out about Lucille’s affiliation with the gang though and presented the family with an alternative to prison. There was a boot camp in Strident City where delinquents could be sent for…….”rehabilitation”. It was decided that it would be best for her to go there. She was too traumatized and shocked to reject. In fact, she was a bit glad that the gang had gotten caught. She was too weak-willed to leave the gang on her own, but the police had taken care of it for her.
Lucille’s father would come visit her and talk to her. Of course, he was furious. He was mad at Lucille, and also mad at himself. He had no clue what Lucille had been doing all this time, and he was incredibly disappointed in Lucille. But, he was less upset because of Lucille, but because of how it was affecting her mother Felicity.
After Lucille was discharged from the hospital, she was allowed to go home to gather her things before being sent off to the boot camp. When she arrived at home, she finally saw her mother for the first time since the incident. She was incredibly upset. Her eyes were red from crying, she looked like she hadn’t slept in days. Felicity couldn’t even look at Lucille’s face without going into mother fit of tears and denial. She blamed herself for allowing Lucille to ever go to a public school, and for not spending enough time with her. But when Felicity looked at Lucille, she didn’t see her own daughter anymore. Lucille had the same face and the same long dark hair, but it wasn’t the daughter that she thought she had. Felicity ended up locking herself in her room, refusing to listen or look at her daughter Lucille any longer. Lucille would bang on the door and cry and beg for forgiveness, and for her mother to listen to her. She sat outside the door for hours sobbing, trying to get a response, trying to reach out for her mother, apologizing and trying to explain but she received nothing back.
Lucille, defeated and dejected, cut off all of her long hair and packed her things, and left for the boot camp.
Boot Camp
The Boot Camp was located in Strident City, and founded by a Luxray woman named Biyu. The first day that Lucille arrived, she was certain that she was not there to make friends. She was there to become stronger and strengthen her mental endurance and strength, so that she could never be manipulated by someone like Dustin again. Lucille had turned pretty cold, never really initiating conversation, and always frowning.
She was 16 years old at the time, and was still a 5 foot 4 Riolu. She wore turtlenecks exclusively to cover up her tattoo, and was still wrapped in bandages to cover her burn scars. The first person Lucille met was a Litten girl named Dwire, who was two years younger than Lucille and the daughter of Biyu. Lucille was very hesitant to become close to anyone, having become very untrusting and hostile, but upon seeing Dwire struggle under Biyu and her anxiety, she was somewhat drawn to her out of maternal instincts. Lucille watched as Dwire was verbally abused by Biyu in front of the whole class for not evolving, and didn’t lift a finger. She was terrified, and- having learned the bad things that happen for standing up for others- knew it was better to stick to herself. She also knew that she wanted to impress Biyu, after being rejected by all other adult figures.
Lucille and Dwire slowly became friends through the day to day rough training they went through for hours. Lucille was able to open up to her, but it took her a really long time. The only reason she was able to open up to Dwire at all was because of the Litten’s unique personality, and the cruelty they had to watch each other go through. Dwire even ended up helping Lucille evolve into a Lucario, since evolving into a Lucario requires friendship.
At the boot camp, there were many traumatizing and painful things they had to do. But one of the worst things for Lucille was the battling. She was constantly put against other members of the camp, including Dwire, to fight. And now she was deathly afraid of fire, so whenever someone used a fire type move she would break down and have a full panic attack and would be yelled at by Biyu in front of everyone. She got the scratch on her cheek from a mandatory fight with Dwire.
One day, after 4 years of training, they were up on top of the mountain learning how to redirect lightning. Dwire was there as well, now an 18-year-old Torracat, along with Dwire’s younger sister Millicent. For years Lucille had known that she had to leave this camp, considering how unhealthy it was, and she knew that Dwire had to leave as well. But that day, the day that Dwire got struck by lightning, was the day Lucille took action.
Lucille, now being 20 years old, practically begged Biyu for a job as a camp counselor. She wanted to start raising funds so that she could leave the camp and travel far away, and her plan was to take Dwire with her. Luckily, all of Lucille’s hard work of trying to impress Biyu over the years had slightly worked, since in the end she was allowed a job. Lucille worked as a counselor for the younger and new recruits and trained them before they were sent to work with Biyu and the older campers. But because of the time, Dwire spent in the hospital, and Lucille now working for Biyu, they started to drift apart, and only talked every couple of months.
Lucille was very soft and motherly to the kids that she worked with, and each day was fun. She did do training with them but was very gentle and kind. But, that was her mistake. When it was time for those kids to be sent to Biyu, they drowned in the workload. They weren’t ready for the harsh training that Biyu put them through, and it was because Lucille hadn’t properly prepared them. It shook Lucille to the bone, she knew it was her fault if those kids lives were ruined, or if they got seriously injured or traumatized. Not to mention she almost lost her job. So from that point on, she was a lot harder on the kids she trained and would yell at them and be brutal because she knew it was the only way to truly protect them.
At age 24, she had been working as a counselor for 4 years. She had been growing out her hair long again because she wanted it to be long the day she saw her mother. She hadn’t heard anything from her family in a very long time and hoped she would be able to see them soon. She wanted to show her mother how strong and mature she had become, and try to win back her parents' love. And she hadn’t received any letters from Nathaniel for a couple of years. Dwire barely ever talked to Lucille, but Lucille still deeply worried about her. She wanted to reach out to her multiple times, but she also knew she had to dedicate time to raising money so that they could leave. She hadn’t told Dwire her plan, but it was almost ready. She didn’t even consider the consequences that after all this time Dwire wouldn’t want to be her friend, or didn’t still think about her. She didn’t think that even once.
The Disaster
The calamity hit very abruptly. The storms at Strident were the worst they had ever been, and almost no place was safe. Lucille and the rest of the people at the camp spent months working on cleaning everything up, rebuilding structures, getting people safe. But then, one day, Dwire disappeared. Without a single word to Lucille, gone. What did Lucille expect? Her to remember her? The person she had barely talked to for four whole years? But Lucille was upset and angry, the memories of being abandoned by her parents flowing back to her. How could Dwire just leave the camp like that, with everything still a mess? She would constantly ask herself until she forced herself to shove the thoughts of Dwire out of her mind.
With everything seeming to go into an unfixable mess, Lucille knew it was time for her to leave the boot camp. But she wasn’t going to leave like Dwire did, disappearing into the night in the midst of chaos. She did all of the work that she could, and let Biyu know beforehand that she was going to leave to travel. She had raised a lot of funds to go wherever she pleased, even though she was originally planning on sharing the money with Dwire. But she wasn’t going to think about that anymore.
When deciding where she wanted to go, her immediate thoughts were that she was sick of large cities. She wanted to go somewhere small. And, she thought about her uncle Nathaniel's talks of explorations and guilds and remembered how they were starting to pop up again. Over the last couple of years, she had found enjoyment in training people and helping, even if she still hated to get too close to others. So she decided to head towards the nearest guild that wasn’t in a large city to give it a shot, who knows what would happen? And so, she left for Everstone City.
