Description
It had been around six months since the Nicole incident. She had been forced into slavery to Thomas by the family because of what she had done. It had been hard but the woman had slowly grown used to being a vampire. She had refused to bite anyone though. Nicole was a 'vegetarian' vampire that drank only from blood bags. She had decided after only a few days that animals were very bland and disgusting.
No one easily forgave her for trying to kill Thomas. Sarah was the hardest to work past, having witnessed it directly. Although she was always the first to greet her when Thomas came two towns over to visit and brought her along. Even Igor didn't much like her company.
Nicole never said much. She seemed to have become almost mute, mumbling short replies or simply nodding when someone called on her. Most of what she said anymore was 'Yes, master.' After this long Thomas felt the coldness he had towards her begin to melt. He had actually even started to get feelings for her, undeterminably long ago but no more than two months after she had been turned.
Tonight Thomas had opted not to hunt and stay home with her. He fed with her quietly before finishing and saying- "I'm sorry."
She looked up with a little animal look of fear. The last time the young female had heard that he had told her that she couldn't visit her family ever again. "…What?" The woman frowned at him in confusion.
"I'm sorry for you." Thomas elaborated a little. "I know how bad it feels to know you're a vampire now, and that you can't see your family again. Ve all vent through the same thing."
Nicole set her glass down on the counter and sighed. "I know." She looked at him sadly and fingered the tips of her bat-like ears. "I'm…" She choked down the words. "Sorry for trying to kill you."
"Don't be." He smirked a little at her. "I deserved it. I have killed many young vomen." He touched her hand a little but she shied away. "But I am not evil. That is, anymore."
"Then why am I stuck here as your slave? Can't I have my own will?!" She grew frustrated before looking away sadly, afraid of being punished. He rubbed her back gently. The woman nearly sobbed. "I just want to see me family again."
The young man looked a little concerned. No, he wouldn't let her go to see them, and hadn't gone through the things she had taken from her hotel, which included a wallet full of photos of her son, father, sister, and husband. "Tell me about them?" He asked gently.
Nicole was surprised by the question. She hadn't thought he would care. But she did feel like she might have misjudged how evil vampires really were. Really, she just had to look at the family, Mina and Sarah, to see that they were like humans in many ways. It was just their diet that was the bother. Well, her diet now too. "Well," She started, signaling it wasn't going to be a long story. "My family didn't know that I was a monster hunter." She sat up a little straighter. "My son was named Paul, after my grandfather. My grandmother was killed by a werewolf so my father began to pass the monster hunting profession down."
Thomas nodded a little, hair that hadn't been slicked back tonight bobbing down over his forehead. "That makes sense." He motioned a little for her to continue.
"And my husband was such a kind man. They had no idea what I really did for a living. He was a chef at the local restaurant." She chuckled a little and smiled in her memory. "I loved his blueberry roulade." Thomas almost frowned at this- she had the memory of a good flavor but if she tasted it ever again that would be shattered. She couldn't eat human food without it making her at least mildly sick.
"You had a good family." He said gently. "But there is still my family you could join."
"What?" She asked again. Was he suggesting that she try to be accepted into his family?
"I mean that you could let yourself be a part of my family. That is if you still think all vampires are evil and heartless." He smirked gently.
"Oh," She shook her head. "No, I don't think so anymore." Really, how could she? She was one of them now.
"Then you can try." On impulse the older vampire leaned forward and planted a kiss on her forehead. "For yourself." She sat back in surprise.
"Don't." She frowned angrily. "I have a husband and child and I will not fall prey to your-"
"Used to." He frowned.
"What?"
"You used to have a husband and child," He sat back in his chair. "I believe the term is 'Till Death Do Us Part?'" He saw her face crease with a look of sadness. "I hate to remind you of this, my dear, but you are dead."
"I know!" She yelled angrily. "I know, I know, I know." She began to cry sadly. This was not the first time Thomas had seen a grown woman cry, but it was the time that hit him hardest. His silent heart ached to comfort her, and maybe give her pretty little cheeks a few more kisses… "But I want my family back… My son was only three!"
At this point Thomas did draw the woman into his lap and nuzzle her neck. "I understand… ve all lose family vhen ve are turned."
Nicole couldn't find it in herself to fight him. She continued to cry and even let him give her a few more gentle kisses. "I just miss little Paul…"
"I know, I know," He cradled her gently. The vampire stood up, holding her. She just needed a little pick-me-up, and he knew just what that was. He began to walk the female up the stairs. "Vhy don't you take a nice, hot bath, and I vill take you out to town if you vant." He smiled gently. The vampire whispered into her pointed, bat-like ear. "Or to bed."
She looked up in surprise. He liked her that way? He liked her at all? A tiny smiled creased her usually frowning face and made it glow happily. "I think just the town will be good for tonight." She allowed him to finish carrying her to her room. "But maybe I will take you up on your offer later."
