Description “So, what do you think?” Renee looked at him hopefully. Nos-4-a2 had a claw on his lip, looking her new outfit over. It was nice, actually. She even had a new utility belt. He had helped her install the new battery and was letting both of the dual cells adjust before he attacked her again.
“Wonderful.” He smiled. “It’s comfortable?”
“Yes.” She shrugged. There was a scary look in his eyes. “Um… did you go hunting while I was out?” She asked carefully.
“No, it’s too risky, but like I promised, I won’t harm you anymore.” He patted her reassuringly and sat back, waiting for the cells to charge.

Alan slammed a fist on his desk. “Damn it Buzz I want my daughter back!” He was on the brink of panic. They had spent the last three days looking on Trade World for Renee with no sign of the girl.
Buzz put a hand on the man’s back carefully. “Alan, we’re trying.”
“But you swept all of Trade World. What if she’s not even there, Buzz?” He asked, eyes glinting painfully. He just wanted his girl home, possessed by a robot vampire or not. She hadn’t been hurting anyone.
“Uh, buzz,” XL sat in the doorway quietly. “News on Renee’s whereabouts.”
“Spit it out!” Alan cried. “What news?”
~~~
The fax machine rubbed the back of his neck sadly. “Alan, the commander wants you personally for this.” He looked back at Buzz and mouthed ‘I’ll tell you when he’s gone.’
Alan drooped sickly. ‘This is bad news, this is bad news…’ His mind told him, much to his annoyance. He trudged down the hall, boots squeaking on the freshly waxed terrilium floor.
Buzz watched his friend go down the hall and felt a pang of guilt for how he had been thinking of Renee for the last few days. He looked at the bot. “What’s the news?”
“Renee was spotted on Capital Planet by a Binipenardian guard.” Commander Nebula informed Alan. He was sitting at his desk, stirring his coffee with a little straw. It was getting late, almost midnight according to the clock. “Six hours after she escaped by the sound of our sources. We found our missing ship.” He nodded.
“And?” Alan asked eagerly. He didn’t care about the ship, he wanted Renee.
“The guard was chased off by an unseen attacker.” The commander said with a monotone. “He did not see the offender but described his voice for us. British accent and,” He looked darkly at Alan. “A mechanical-sounding roar.”
“Uh… so?” Alan asked. He was afraid of what it meant. A mechanical roar? He had never heard of such a thing.
“The vocal description fits only one person in our data base; Nos-4-a2.” The old man pulled questioningly at his moustache. “But we can’t be absolutely sure. There are other robot monsters out there, rogue experiments, it could have been anything.” He didn’t sound very sure, “Our guard ran away and left Renee with him. We’re not sure where she is now- no body was found- but more witnesses heard screams.”
Alan laid his head on the table. “God, he got her…” He looked up, tears flooding his eyes and threatening to overflow. “She would have survived, right?”
Nebula swallowed quickly. “Possibly, considering her mechanical parts were just implants, but when we usually get reports of him feeding on cyborgs, they were killed when he finished.”
“Heartless bastard!” Alan kicked back his chair. “My girls dead because of that thing!” He punched right through a wall and screamed. All his digits had been broken in one fell swoop.
“We assume so, and are calling off the search.” Commander Nebula mumbled and dialed for the medical ward to send someone to take care of Alan. He was in hysterics, crying and fighting the LGMs when they arrived. A few of the green beans went flying but for the most part they were fine. The squadron drugged the Zephyrite and carried him away to the medical ward.
~~~
“So Renee has been pronounced dead at her master’s hands.” Buzz was a little startled, watching Alan get pulled down the hall by a group of LGMs. Disaster had struck the family like lightening repeatedly in a matter of only three days. Now he really felt bad about thinking so negatively of the girl. She had been murdered now, for god’s sake.
“Yes. And she was so nice… I was surprised.” XL frowned. “She didn’t seem like the type.” Buzz looked at him. He held up his hands in surrender. “Okay, she was a lot like him, but-“
“But what?”
“But I feel like it was our fault.” The photocopier admitted. “I mean, we practically chased her into his arms…”
“Relax, XL, it’s too late.” Buzz bent on one knee and looked XL in the eyes. “She died at his hands, er,” He paused. “Fangs, and it wasn’t anyone’s fault.”
