well, when he was nineteen he became so paranoid that the love of his life, his girlfriend fina, would leave him that he went mad and murdered her so no one else could have her, (he stabbed her like fifty times, ripped out her heart to keep for himself, and tore out and ate her eyes so he would be the last thing she ever saw). Fina, after death, made a deal with the devil and came back to her body (which healed except she remained blind) as a demon and did the same to nathan but shredded the side of his face that he keeps hidden by his hair (he didnt then) while he was pretty much doing whatever he wanted with her corpse. after death he begged her for forgiveness and, to make it up to her, proposed marriage. because he did this he became one of thousands of grim reapers, him being in charge of taking the evilest, nastiest people in america. pretty much right after this happened he revealed he had only married fina to keep himself from going to (not allowed to say it). she now hates him and acts like a monster, hunting down and beating him badly every time she catches up to him but other than that and his extreme sensitivity about his scar he really lives it up.

XD i actually based the story on 'little peice of heaven' by aavenged sevenfold. the lead singer is even my headcanon voice for him.
