Description
Nos had finally gotten the ship running and was on his way to Planet Z. He still had his control on Renee, so the vampire knew she had not been debugged. Zurg was obviously going to try and convince her to hate him, but as long as he had that mental grip they were both safe for the most part. All he had to do was get onto the planet, and because he still had the security codes programmed into his head that wouldn't be too much of a problem. While he knew Renee was probably an energy vampire now he was not fully prepared for exactly what he would find.~~~
Renee had been on Planet Z for roughly three months now. Star Command, much to Alan and Ginger’s chagrin, had given up on rescuing her. XL wanted to help but he couldn’t exactly do anything. The cat had, at some point during her first month in Zurg space, turned eighteen. She was taking full advantage of her power over Zurg now and had even figured out how to make regular hornets into vampire hornets with some simple reprogramming.
She was, at the moment, lounging in Zurg’s chair. Zurg, in fear of her draining him, was happy to turn over the throne for now. Renee in return was happily calling him ‘Granddad’. She had also begun manipulating the other scum that worked for Zurg. Upon a request to Warp Darkmatter, whom she enjoyed the company of because he would work for anyone who paid him as grandly as she did, he had brought her a bottle of hair thickener a few weeks ago. She had been almost entirely bald then, but things were improving nicely. At this point she was covered, once again, in thin fur of the right pattern. It was wonderful.
Right now the girl’s fur was pale from a fresh application. She kind of looked like an albino, with the red eyes an everything. The blood that the nanites carried in little globules around them flowed through her cortex’s as well, making them glow’ red. She kind of liked it that way. “What do you think?” She asked Darkmatter. The girl had completely given up on any hope of rescue and was hiding her depression with the power of ruling Planet Z.
“I think that keeping up the treatments is definitely a good idea.” The agent of evil waved his robotic arm. He didn’t personally care but was too scared of her to ignore the question.
Renee nodded and one of the little grubs, whom she found adorable, ran up to her. “Empress Asther!” She had ordered the creatures to call her by her middle name, just because it sounded cooler. More empress-e “A ship has entered the atmosphere!”
The cat put a sharpened claw to her lip. “If you can identify it as a Star Cruiser or a coffin ship, welcome it. Otherwise shoot it down.” She had grown more sadistic and harbored a new, sharp hatred for visitors. Not that she would be nice to the rangers. They hadn’t even tried to rescue her. She hissed angrily at the thought. Her own father had given her up to Zurg.
“Yes, Empress.” The grub scuttled off.

Alan sat with his head down on his desk, not working. He had sunk into a funk- type depression in the last few weeks. There was no more word from Zurg and everyone insisted that it was just too risky to go after her. He was furious, and saddened. Who wouldn’t be? The Zephyrite had lost his only child, after all. Even if she had been given, and given in to evil.
XL came in behind him and tapped the man on the shoulder. “You asleep Alan?”
“No. No I’m not XL.” The man looked up. His eyes were red raw from a fresh bout of crying. The cat really enjoyed the fax machine’s company because, even considering XR’s barrages of insults towards Renee, he still considered her a friend. Alan turned around to look at XL. “What am I going to do? Star Command is just going to leave her with Zurg.” He spat bitterly.
“I can’t say I know how it feels, because I don’t.” XL said apologetically. Alan groaned and laid his head on the desk again, not knowing what to do. “But maybe you should just go for her yourself?” He paused. Maybe Alan couldn’t go on his own…. But that didn’t mean someone else couldn’t.

“Nos!” Renee shrieked the moment he appeared, looking confused, in the doorway. The energy vampire looked surprised when his kidnapped minion ran down from the thrown. He hardly even recognized her- she looked so different. She was stronger, healthier, and somehow more dangerous. Had his bite caused all this? He didn’t really care, but Nos-4-a2 was curious just to what had happened while he was unable to have her.
“Renee, pet, how are you?” He retreated and sat her back on the floor.
“I’m, um, fine.” Renee rubbed the back of her neck and looked at the ground. “Just fine. Where were you?” She looked up, bionic eye glowing with faint anger.
“Trying to repair my ship!” Nos defended himself quickly. “I needed a way to get here and-“ He paused, looking around. The room’s features had just registered. There was a vampire hornet in each corner, floating solemnly with their arms crossed behind their backs. Warp Darkmatter stood in the middle of the room, looking annoyed but tolerant. Nos looked at Renee. “What’s going on here?” Zurg was nowhere to be seen.
The Zephyrite brightened. She straightened her cape. “I have conquered Planet Z, Master.” She bowed a little.
For a split second the energy vampire felt fury, jealousy, envy, and awe all at the same time. How the deuce did she pull off something he never could with no planning? And yet he was also inexplicably proud. “You killed Zurg?”
Renee hadn’t referred to the emperor as Zurg in days. “You mean grandpa? No,” she slapped a paw over her mouth, realizing what she had just said.
“Grandpa?” Nos looked her over. What happened while he was gone? He had called Zurg daddy dearest before as a joke but his pet had no reason to call him grandpa unless he was very ill informed on something.
Renée hadn't meant to mention calling Zurg grandpa. Or that he had gotten her used to calling her master ‘father’. “Sorry.” She looked at him, making her organic eye big and watery. “He's gotten me calling him grandpa." The alien paused. “But I swear I don't value him. I was saving the kill for you!”
Nos blinked. Had she fed off Zurg? He was programmed against it. Renée was one upping him as a villain and energy vampire in general. “I've taught you to well.” He muttered, crossing his arms.
Despite knowing that he hated it Renée wrapped him up in a hug. He gasped and straightened. “You know, father,” she didn't let him go. “I can honestly say you've ripped my life to shreds. And it's improving.”
He gave her an odd look and shrugged his minion off. “Dad? Is that something Zurg came up with as well, just because you turned into an energy vampire?” Nos-4-a2 was not going to let up on her.
Renée's ears drooped. Of course she hadn’t expected him to like it, but where had his sympathy gone? She clenched her fists. “I expect you're hungry. Grub!" She snapped angrily at the little creature. It cowered at her tone. “Take Zurg to the execution room and keep it dark for master.”
Nos was pleased that she would leave such a delicious kill for him. Hmm… How was she now? 18? He had a sudden pang of guilt. He had made her what she was now and let her get kidnapped by Zurg. What was he thinking? By now she even considered herself his daughter! He put a hand on her shoulder carefully. “Thank you, pet.” He swept his Cape around himself and smiled. “But I’ll wait a little while.”
~~~
XL silently snuck into the evidence storage room. The fax machine had been hit with a sudden bout of heroic ideas. He would rescue Renée himself. “Hello, my old friend." He looked up at his robotic body with the chuckle. Carefully the photocopier took his head off the fax machine tossed it up into the head case.
It was surprising to feel this tall again. He put one foot forward, trying not crushing anything. The bot accidentally stepped on one of the photocopier’s treads, shattering it. He jumped back in surprise. “Oops.” He said with a short chuckle. Regaining his balance, the robot made his way to the launch bay. No one noticed him taking off and heading for Planet Z. Yet.
“Buzz!” Mira ran into the office, after going to order ten copies of a newsletter and finding him gone. It hadn’t been hard to spot him out the window afterwards. “XL’s left Star Command, and he took his old body!”
“What? Oh, great,” Buzz pressed his knuckle to his head and growled. “He’s after Renee, isn’t he?”
Alan looked up from the desk. “He is?”
“It appears so.” Buzz shook his head angrily and stood up. “Come on team, we can’t let him go alone.”
