awww, I love to see horses galloping too. To me they are the most beautiful animals to see run. I always look forward to taking Bailey and HiFi out to their pasture because as soon as we set them free (well into the pasture) they take off galloping, running like crazy all over the place. It makes them soo happy to have an open space....filled with grass of course!

lol I just can't help loving them. As soon as I set my eyes on a picture of a horse as a little kid I was mesmerized! lol My parents thought I'd grow out of it, but I sure showed them!!!

lol, I'll never grow out of it. It's sad though when people do. At the feed store there was this for sale poster of this beautiful grey horse and the title read "Teenage daughter has lost interest". I want to hit that girl! Poor horse being abandoned by someone who probably used to love him. That will never happen to us!!

no...i don't have a horse, but there's people who do, like the girl in the advert, and they don't even appreciate it, i wish i had a horse, but i can't and then there's some people who don't even seem to care they have a horse at all...
it's like that at shows and stuff, some people who compete can't be bothered to get off their horses all day, and get annoyed when they don't win etc, but i'd just like to enter a show on my own horse

I know how you feel. There is these really spoiled kids who get everything they want that live around here. They expressed interest in getting a horse and their dad bought them three, the best money could buy. They hadn't even taken riding lessons before! No experience whatsoever! I was sooo mad, and I will admit very jealous. If only spoiled kids knew whatβs it's like to be without something that you have a passion for. But, my dad did finally break. We were looking for a horse for almost five months, our budget was REALLY low, and we weren't finding anything. But, then the opportunity came for us to rescue two horses, who were underweight...just pitiful looking. Someone even had the nerve to say that HiFi should be put down because of the condition he was in. But, we all worked hard, and my boys are doing great now. I had to wait almost 17 years for my first horse, but let me tell you I appreciate every moment of it. I know you may not have a horse now, but NEVER stop dreaming about having one one day (because you will!!). Trust me it is well worth wait, and after waiting for so long you will enjoy every minute of it and appreciate your horse even more.
Those stupid people you see at the shows will probally either forget or not even care for horses 3,4, or 5 years from now but you will.
I'm sorry my reply was long!

yay you're so lucky to have a horse!!! thing is, i'd really like a horse (obviously) but round where i live there's no fields or anything, so if i had a horse it would have to be stabled practically all year round, which is unfair and not how i'd like to keep a horse at all, i'd like a massive field
also, it's so expensive just to ride here, and to keep a horse at livery would be £££££££££
, one day i'm certain i'll have a horse though, even though i don't know when. i always say to my parents: WHEN i get a horse i'll...not IF but i think they're worried that if i have a horse i'll get fed up of looking after it, but i don't think so!!
anyway, thank you for the long reply, it's nice to know other people feel the same way

I'm happy you're thinking that way! I agree horses shouldn't be kept in a stall all day. Theres a race track near my place and the horses are kept in stalls, in the sweltering heat all day. There isn't a pasture or paddock! They only get out when they are excerised on the track. I've been in the barn a couple times (I just wandered in.....mwhahaha) and some of the horses are really high strung, pacing their stalls, just aching to get out. I don't blame them, because I could hardly stand it in there myself! It disgusts me! I'm lucky I live on a farm that can accomadte animals. I can remember when I was little and I would find old, rusted horse shoes in the barn. They had to be almost hundred years old! I was just fascinated and I wondered what the horses looked like. (I was a very imaginative little kid!) They must been a giant draft breed. Their was also really old, falling apart harnesses. I'm sad to say that barn is falling in now, its just soooo old.
My parents thought the same thing about me, that I would get lazy and not want to take care of them anymore. They just don't understand the passion of a horse lover! There is this great article or maybe it can be called a "mini" essay about wanting a horse. It was great great and desribed my feelings perfectly, and I'm sure yours to. I even forced my dad to read some of it! I'm sure you'd love to read it yourself. I can't find it in my faviroutes, and it was over a year ago. I know I printed it out and if I can find it I'll scan it so you can read it to. Oh jeeze I've done it again! lol Another long reply! lol
Your welcome, it's great to talk fellow equine lovers!

Thanks! That would be great if you could find that essay thing!!! It sounds quite sad, about that barn at the race track. I think it's important if you have horses to appreciate that they are wild animals, and not just possessions! It's awful when horses are just locked up in stables/stalls and can't be in a field or paddock, which is actually where they were always meant to be. What you were saying about horseshoes, there's something about horses that always seems magical, riding them, drawing them, being around them-they seem to be kind of 'dreams' themselves, sounds stupid but there it is. The thing about horses is they give you the chance to do stuff you wouldn't be able to do otherwise, and they all have different personalities etc. I think that's one of the things that I love about riding, each time you go, or ride a different horse there'll be a completley new experience. My favourite horse is called Costa and sometimes she's perfect, and sometimes she gets really naughty and naps and runs backwards, and then there's other times when she's whizzy and jumps everything no matter how badly I approached it
sorry about the long ramble,
