Description Open eyes,
And staring at a dirty window pane.
Close my eyes,
Try to sleep again, but the dreams won’t let me in.

Time to get up.

Stretch out a hand,
Half-broken light switch on the wall, just in my reach: Safety.
The light comes on,
My eyes burn as my head screams in protest.

Reminding me.

Clench my fist,
Sweeping waves of nausea, the ground feels miles away, below.
Turn to the mirror,
The spiderwebbing cracks bring back last night in crystal shards.

Clear and painful.

Lean in close,
Trying to make some sense of what I see.
Squint my eyes,
Looking for the beauty that they all say is there.

I can’t see it.

Beautiful. <3 You have a way with words, that's for sure! And I agree with Sean, the way you use the bold at the end makes me think that the speaker is feeling a sort of hopeless desperation, which fits just perfectly. 'u' I hope you write more soon! This is amazing!

Thank you for saying it was in-character in the comments. I was all, "Wait, why is Qahtte going to crazy rock-star parties? Why can't I go to crazy rock-star parties?" And then it made sense.

Awesome poem, really. And the last line hurts, in a good-ish way, as the best writing always should. Love it, love you, etc etc.
