A most entertaining comic, but involving a massive twisting of the relationship these ladies have in the show- still, the fancomics are very entertaining to behold.

Yeah, the problem with SQ was never age gaps, non-blood relativity, or anything like that, the problem what that it never made any sense at all in terms of the characters.Β It's just not who they are, and the ship was mostly projected onto the show by wishful thinking.Β The fanfics are a good indicator, the classic warning sign of a ship that makes no senseΒ on its own termsΒ is that fanfics about it have to twist some other character, or rewrite the past of the shipped character, to make it work, and the SQ fics routinely do that.

I was all up for Swanqueen until the end of season two. It seemed to me like it was the logical plot to follow, but then they ruined it. Now, romance in OUAT is so superficial. The writers put one with the other with little thought or background, just because! (remember Emma/Graham? wtf was that?) Which means that, if they got Emma and Regina together, it would not have as much meaning for me. Actually, I think it would ruin it. I'm hoping they make them friends while I drown in my wonderful swanqueen fanfics.
That being said, I still squeal over all the swanqueen moments in the series. I'm hoping they at least make them friends cuz I totally ship them!!!

Not only were they not canon, there was never any realistic chance that they were ever going to be canon.Β The writers went back and forth for a while between Emma/Neal and Emma/Hook, then settled on the latter late in season three.Β Swan Queen was never in the cards, for a variety of reasons.
