🌹🥀A Pride Divided🥀🌹

In the early morning hours within the Pridelands, heavy paws could be heard walking through the grasslands. A softer, lighter set of paws could also be heard faintly, with a quicker pace. Akina, the current queen of the Pridelands, was doing as she always had, walking her current courier through her lands to keep them in line, and making sure they did not wander. Akina took a deep breath, and let out a relaxed sigh of relief. She glanced to her left, seeing the smaller lioness beside her. This courier was different. Akina had many couriers she’d see in a week, but Maira was different. Akina took a long, silent moment appreciating the lioness’s beauty. It didn’t take long for Maira to notice, and she flashed the queen a playful, fanged smile.

“Whatcha lookin’ at, my Queen?” She asked with a wink, followed by a giggle.

“Am I not allowed to admire your looks now, Maira? It isn’t often I can be so lax, and attentive to you…”
Maira blushes softly. “Oh! I am sorry, Akina, I am just so used to you being so serious.” She teased the queen, trotting ahead a bit to use her tail to brush underneath Akina’s chin. Akina gave a rare, warm smile and playfully nipped at Maira’s tail, causing her to yelp. Akina laughed softly. While she enjoyed Maira’s company, she felt a distance inside of her. She cared deeply for Maira, but she could never fully give herself to her. Her duties to her pride, her family, came first always. Akina didn’t realize that while she was deep in thought, she had stopped in her tracks. She came to the realization as she looked up to Maira sitting a few paces ahead of her, head tilted with a look of confusion on her face. “Did I say something wrong?” Maira asked softly.

Akina blinked a few times, “No, no. I was just thinking about something...it isn’t important.”
A cool, early morning breeze flowed through them, Maira’s fur moving along with it. Akina found herself staring again, before she closed the distance between them. She glanced down, noticing a lovely, white flower that was in full bloom with the moonlight hitting it just right. She smiled softly, lowering her large head to pick the flower with her teeth. She then proceeded to brush the old, wilting flower Maira currently wore from her head, and place the new one behind her ear. She then gave Maira’s cheek a soft, delicate lick of affection.

“Are you sure you’re okay, Akina?” Maira asked, nuzzling herself into Akina’s muscular neck, trying to be as close to her lover as possible.

“Yes, Maira, I am more than okay, especially when I am alone with you.”

Maira let out a soft purr. “Thank you so much for the flower, my Queen.” She says as she slowly stands. “Should we be on our way? We can take the longer path out of the Pridelands, if you’d like.”

Akina chuckled. “Oh, you’d love that wouldn’t you?” She teased in a gruff voice. “And, you’re welcome, Maira.” Akina purred the other lioness’s name. “The long way it is then...I am not through with our business just yet.”

Maira found herself blushing once again, which soon turned into a playful, toothy grin. “As you wish, my Queen. Just business as usual.” She winked at the larger lioness, before prancing off again.

Akina sighed softly, “Yes, Maira...as usual.”

The pair found themselves alone, in a secluded area of Akina’s territory. Akina couldn’t help but think that Maira had this planned from the beginning. The courier was always the best at setting the mood, Akina had to give her that. She found herself laying back, enjoying the view of the stars. Maira had made herself comfortable, laying nearly on top of Akina. Not that the Queen minded, she truly enjoyed Maira’s company, and if things were different...if only right?

Akina let out a huff, as Maira climbed slowly on top of her. Akina rolled onto her back, making it easier for her love to lay on her. She smiled, the pair had an unspoken bond, Akina met Maira’s eyes, and Maira let out all her feelings in a deeply passionate kiss. Akina, for once in a long while, felt at peace and gave into the kiss…
