I love this random pony to bits and pieces. But whats her name? Edit: Apparently Screw Ball! Sounds good to me.My head canon is that she's somehow connected to Discord.

Nah, he was freed because Celestia and Luna weren't connected to the elements anymore, then the CMC finished it off. Since the six still are, he can't be freed. NMM, on the other hand, is Luna's dark side. Since Luna's still around, NMM could reappear.

before i got to see the second episode, i was actuallily thinking that when the mane 6 defeated discord he would have an emotional breakdown, crying & begging not to be turned to stone. this of course would fall on deaf ears, but luna would stop them, shielding discord w/ her own body. saying something like "you have no idea what its like to be turned to stone!!!! to be frozen for a THOUSAND YEARS! the cold, the BLACKNESS!!! i wont let you do it to anypony!!! NOPONY deserves THAT fate!!!"
or something like that. (bad fanfic writing powers, ACTIVATE!!!)

Begging for his life doesn't seem to be Discord's style. Personally, I was kind of hoping Luna would give the pep talk to ungray the ponies, something like, "no matter how horrible the situation seems, there is always hope."

well to me i felt it would illustrate the HORROR of being turned to stone. if someone as powerfully calm cool and collected as discord is absolutely TERRIFIED, and reduced to a cringing ball of sobbing tears, then mabey being turned to stone is a more excessive punishment then everyone thinks... it was just an idea...

ACTUALLY, Nightmare Moon was the result of Luna being possessed by some outside force taking advantage of Luna's jelousy and amplifying it until we got NMM and her insane eternal night plan. Though yeah, the force as far as I know was never caught.
Discord returning could be easily explained away. Any story that seperates the Mane 6 from their elements is grounds for weakening the seal. Or the Mane 6's seal could be drastically weaker then Celestia and Luna's original one, allowing a faster escape. The ultimate decider of Discord returning is the Producers wanting to use him again. Which considering the fanbase Discord made and John de Lancie being fine with returning performances, I wouldn't be surprised if he came back.

Yeah, thats what I meant by dark side. I do wonder though, was Discord perhaps the source of that? He could have tainted Luna when they fought somehow as part of a plan to eventually escape.
Honestly, I'd rather he didn't come back. He was an incredibly dangerous villain, but ultimately he had to rely on the very basic strategy of divide and conquer. Since the six are wise to it, he'd get trashed pretty easily. Relatively speaking, at least.

It's all conjecture currently. Who knows if they will revisit that detail.
Had to nothing. He just prefered the best path for an amusing victory, not the most effective one. Being a grade-A class Reality Warper, he could've sent the Elements to the Moon or threw them to farthest points of the world in different directions. With his powerset, he had ALOT of options, but he and his ego are ultimately his worst enemy, not the Elements and the Mane 6. If he came back and did the same plan, but minus the riddle and the overcofident gestures that got him re-imprisoned, he could still easily give the Mane 6 trouble instead of getting trashed.
But that would make for a boring rehash plot even for me. But thats not the point...

I think it might be fundamentally against his character to make it impossible for them to get the elements. He's chaos, guaranteed victory is very orderly. And of course, his ego would prevent him from doing anything so useful.
Thats the other thing, but the writers of this show are good enough they could probably find a way to do it well. I have faith in them. I just don't want him back. It'd detract from his impact.

That's not making it impossible. It's just making it harder for them. You should know even if he threw the elements to the ends of the universe, something in the plot would still give the mane 6 the ability to retrieve them.
I just don't want such an entertaining character to just be thrown by the wayside like that. If it was a MLP special and not the Season openers, I wouldn't mind as much.
